Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: Tecno on October 23, 2026, 01:44:49 PMYa but Vibert is heir apparent to Eli's 6th spot because he can snap too. There was one PS or garbage season game where he started at C I'm pretty sure. Should be a serviceable as Eli was at the same career stage.  99 percent of the time you won't need him for c, just for some jumbos. And I think Vibert would be better because that's his main practice mode!!

I've always maintained that dressing a DI OL is maybe the dumbest thing in the CFL, unless your cupboard is completely bare due to injury. Ours is not.

I think it speaks to massive GM failures when it happens. Unless this is all some big ruse to punish or scare els before a playoff run.

There isn't much evidence they think Vibert is a reasonable alternative to Eli, otherwise he'd be getting prepped as the 6th man instead of Elsbury.

The eternal pipeline has been broken and it's sucking air, if Vibert wants to continue hanging around he might get offered the ole Collin Kornelson treatment, but seeing as he's not from Wpg. he'll probably just leave and not come back.

Your comment that the eternal pipeline has been broken and it's sucking air is very true. We really do not have much of value in the pipeline as far as I can see. Our recruiting over the past 3 years has failed us IMHO and we are seeing the results of poor recruiting now.

Not much to say here but I feel obliged since it's our last reg season game of the year and potentially last game at all.

This should 100% be a gimme. We should be fired up and shouldn't make the same mistakes against Salter/Horvath as we did earlier this year. BC is resting.

...but if we screw this up somehow, we absolutely deserve to miss the playoffs and it will (should) lead to some real soul-searching in the off-season.

I'll stop with that nonsense now. Go win the ****ing game and then you get a whole new season to try and make some noise in November. Surprise and impress us!

I'm kinda doom or gloom over here. I think we should win but I won't be surprised if we don't. I think the reality in front of us is we either lose this week against their backups or next week against their starters.

There are a number of Bomber fans at our hotel. Everyone hoping for a big win.

Thats fair. Very hard to expect some sort of miracle run after last weeks performance.

When a team gets to this point - and i feel the same way about the Jets - i always wonder if its the best kong term interest of the team to just lose. Does winning this game convince the management that they earned this playoff spot? Does losing convince them to make some wholesale changes?

If we lost this game and had pick #3 or #4 in the draft, I might be okay with that. But, that's already gone. Whether we win or lose I don't think management makes to many changes which is sad.

Yeah, Dru's performance has made that trade seem really bad.

But he is.  He's following the exact same path Eli did.  Unless you're a 1st year starter stud DP, you go into the veeeerrryyy long pipeline.  It's totally normal Vibert rarely/never dresses.  This is his year 2, right?

And who on earth would supplant him as the NAT backup-to-the-backup C/OG?  If we had the exact same OL squad next year, and Els has lost starting, I'd 100% drop Els and dress Vibert as 6th.  There's no reason to have an IMP 6th.

You're making the mistake of believing MOS/Younger that the Salter/Horvath debacle was players making mistakes.  What if the mistake is the scheme?  What if the scheme is designed to make those "mistakes"?  We'll find out in 3 hours!

We also were winning that game until the final 6 minutes. Then there came the most epic meltdown I've ever seen. But BC could not score for 90% of that game.

And EDM didn't do much for most of a half too.  BC and EDM have laid bare the plan to beat WPG: play a normal game, stay close, go all-run at some point in the 3rd or 4th.  For some reason Younger refuses to admit to himself a team would go all-run.  And so we let teams run into wide open flats, no help on the edge.  And we never try to get numbers advantage as we still have 2 guys deep wasted "helping out" on obvious clearing routes.

And by then our run-stop D is completely exhausted for some reason and they can't tackle even if they luck upon being close to the carrier.  And the CFL allows a ton of late holding by every O player on runs, making our problems worse because most of our guys are undersized and can't shed.

same here.

You'll find me being far less of a downer during in game comments. I've resigned to the fact this collection of players and coaches ain't gonna work on any level of a consistent basis.

I don't drink, but what about a drinking game for this game?  Take a sip every time:
1. Can't-throw Salter burns us with a deep pass
2. Salter runs for 5+
3. Horvath runs for 7+
4. A run converts 2nd & medium or long
5. BC has a drive over 12 plays
6. Our D whiffs on an easy tackle
7. You spot Willie jogging during the whistles
8. MOS looks non-plussed

Empty your cup if:
1. Horvath breaks the record
2. Horvath or Salter gets a 25Y+ TD on the ground
3. BC's B team beats our #1 guys trying their absolute hardest

And for good measure:
1. Empty the bottle if we manage to win
