I think if we play to win it will be fine, if we do what we did last game against  BC and play ultra conservative ie playing not to lose it will be a lot closer than it needs to be, where one drive or big play can make the difference for BC

Quote from: Jesse on October 23, 2026, 10:18:26 PMYeah, Dru's performance has made that trade seem really bad.
Indeed an epic failure of a move in a retrospective lens.

Elgersma might have been worth a further looksie and at least we would have more answers on options.

Quote from: Tecno on Today at 12:01:53 AMI don't drink, but what about a drinking game for this game?  Take a sip every time:
1. Can't-throw Salter burns us with a deep pass
2. Salter runs for 5+
3. Horvath runs for 7+
4. A run converts 2nd & medium or long
5. BC has a drive over 12 plays
6. Our D whiffs on an easy tackle
7. You spot Willie jogging during the whistles
8. MOS looks non-plussed

Empty your cup if:
1. Horvath breaks the record
2. Horvath or Salter gets a 25Y+ TD on the ground
3. BC's B team beats our #1 guys trying their absolute hardest

And for good measure:
1. Empty the bottle if we manage to win

Ummm, how about no. ::)

Enjoy the game! Sounds like an impressive crowd, especially BC has nothing to play for.

Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: Tecno on October 23, 2026, 11:05:49 PMBut he is.  He's following the exact same path Eli did.  Unless you're a 1st year starter stud DP, you go into the veeeerrryyy long pipeline.  It's totally normal Vibert rarely/never dresses.  This is his year 2, right?

And who on earth would supplant him as the NAT backup-to-the-backup C/OG?  If we had the exact same OL squad next year, and Els has lost starting, I'd 100% drop Els and dress Vibert as 6th.  There's no reason to have an IMP 6th.

Typically the Bombers keep their next up Natl. O-lineman on the roster as the 6th man, not on the PR where they'd be available for poaching, especially if they were a high draft pick. Eli may have gotten off to a slower start than most in his career, but I don't believe he spent much time on the PR.

According to his stats Vibert has been sitting on the PR for all but one game this season and all but one game last season, he doesn't have a single stat. I don't expect them to retain him after this season and I have no idea where the next one is supposed to come from.

Quote from: Tecno on October 23, 2026, 04:08:03 AMWhy are fans showing up for this game in droves?  Why push this game heavily?  It'll be a clinker if Horvath doesn't run most of the game.

Does BC have a plan to cream us?  They wouldn't want to lay an egg for 30k: that's not how you get marginal fans excited to show up for week 1 next season!

Very strange.

It's got to be tied promotionally to the playoff game somehow. I can't see there would be that much interest in this game on it's own.

Quote from: Tecno on October 23, 2026, 11:08:34 PMYou're making the mistake of believing MOS/Younger that the Salter/Horvath debacle was players making mistakes.  What if the mistake is the scheme?  What if the scheme is designed to make those "mistakes"?  We'll find out in 3 hours!
Make sure you listen to the pregame Tecno. About a half hour in Doug Brown breaks down the Bomber run defense and why it doesn't work. You two have a lot of  points in common.

That was a great breakdown by DB, worth a re-listen after the game.

Their team is why I sync up the game instead of listening to the tv.  Very insightful plus Derek Taylor is a stats guru

Lawson (GTD) is on the field for warmups. He did a few 'sprints' on the sideline then grabbed his helmet. He looks ready to go.

If the Bombers win this one and are scheduled to play again back in BC next weekend they should seriously consider staying out West instead of going home.

I find Doug Brown share lots of the same opinions as me regarding these Bombers.

Do you have ST in BC?  Or do you get a booth or something from the CFL?

Jealous.

I think Eli sat a ton too in year 1 & 2.  I think this is fairly normal dev for a later-round DP OL that we are grooming as 6th and perennial backup.

Remember Spooner??  Ya, except Spooner was a complete bust, ok.  But Eli worked out.

I think Mafia really likes this 6th-guy idea, as they are cheap to keep around and can build long-term chemistry.  Just like Eli, who is the literal poster child.

Except the WSF being Saturday (right?) make it a long week.  Plus, I'm sure the braintrust doesn't have all the tools they need to do all the film study, etc.  Players like to be home to plan all the family tickets, etc.
