Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: Mollywhop on October 19, 2026, 03:32:53 PMWhat about someone like Calvillo with a some kind of an upgrade to his oc title like idk maybe calling plays and assistant head coach.

I've watched a few interviews with Calvillo and he's married to Montreal, don't believe he would want to work anywhere else, even if offered the HC job.  He's a pretty modest person, almost the opposite of Alexander, can't see him being ambitious enough to become a HC.

They'll be working hard as soon as the season is over to go over what went wrong and where we need to change things up--our O line, MLB and safety for starters, but coaches will be safe

Say what?  Didn't get close to the GC last year.  This is likely the first year in a long time we completely miss the playoffs though

Last year was a no Grey Cup year too.

From 15-3 to 14-4 to 10-8, 10-8 and then 8-10 or 9-9. That would be a steady decline

Younger - take a flyer on Bighill if he wants to coach.  We know he can lead.

Condell - Khari.

I would be disappointed if Dickensen was let go.... Angry Dave is entertaining.

More people liked Hall than ever liked Younger.  And Hall then earned even more fans when he won the cup.  After that, people stopped whinging about Hall.

But Younger has always had his haters and detractors (looking at you DM83), and that cadre hasn't shrunk, it's grown.  In fact, I'm one of the few that regularly defended Younger... and I was wrong.  I believed the line that the system was awesome and just needed better personnel and execution and training, because it often looked like it was working.  The haters were right.  They saw it before I did.

The system is flawed because it expects teams to play normal "book" ball.  You know, get 3-5 on first and then pass 90% of the time.  It completely breaks down when a team goes 90% run (like EDM and BC die).  It also expects teams to take shots.  It completely breaks down when a team goes max D&D (like SSK, OTT, MTL at times, CGY at times).  Heaven help us if a team does nothing but run & D&D.  You know, like EDM & BC did to us this season, and SSK tried to do but were short their RB and guys who could catch (oh, add in the '24 GC too).

Almost no one is defending Younger now.  If you want to, I'm all ears, I'm open to change.  Explain to me how the system was just a couple of inches off stopping Rankin in the 4th the other day when no one was remotely near him 95% of the time even though the whole world could see it was max run time after 2 snaps.

Ask yourself what KW & WM's faces are looking like up in the box, watching that @EDM game unfold.  What's the board thinking?

They know the buck stops with them.  Younger has known about the all-run 4th Q problems since Salter & Horvath ran for infinity yards.  He's had 2 months to prepare!  2 months to find a way to add all-run stop into his scheme!  And he didn't!!  Or, to my point, he CAN'T.  Because it's impossible without blowing up the WHOLE SCHEME!

You think WM is impressed sitting there watching our season blow up because our D can't stop an all-run 3rd & 4th Q when we're down by only 3 or 4 with 8 mins left!  Snap after snap of the exact same set and scheme.  No run blitz.  Just sit there, and bend over.

If I'm think mad, think of what WM is thinking!!  It's his life & job, not mine!  Ya, you better believe the pressure is on Younger, and I'm sure he knows it.  The looks from everyone above him every day are not friendly.  It's probably already decided anyhow.  He'd practically have to win the cup right now to avoid being fired, and it would have to be because of his D and not the O putting up 60 on everyone.
