Blue In BC

Quote from: Tecno on October 13, 2026, 12:48:35 PMHas Alexander broken records? Philpot is. Is Alexander even the yards or td leader this year? To me, Philpot gives more wow factor.

But... Because Philpot is Canadian and a lock for best nat, it gives the voters an easy out by splitting the difference and giving him just the moc. That lets them give Alexander MVP and everyone is happy.

I actually hate giving both to one guy, and have suggested since AH33 won both in the gc that MVP should be renamed MVI... With I being import. Yes, I know gc is distinct from the season awards, but my point applies to both.

I just really hope they don't put up Brady against Philpot, as it won't even be close.

I think he has broken some records. Number of wins to start his career. Yardage might be another one to measure against others, TD to int ratio in " X " number of games etc etc.

Either way, he's impressive. I'm not fond of his ego but he's one heck of a QB. I am wondering if he gets a call from the NFL in the off season. It would be a horrible loss for the CFL, but could put much money in his account.

Because just make a separate QB award if that's the case.

Split the awards this year and see if Philpot can do it again next year. It's accomplishment enough to beat Rourke and Brady for Outstanding Canadian.

I'm not sure it's enough to beat Rourke who is having a very strong season.

Either or they have to give Philpot something. In 2025 Rourke was awarded both the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian Award and the CFL's Most Outstanding Player Award and he's still young, so he's bound to win many more times.

You can't give out awards now because someone else will get awards in the future. Both players are young and may win awards in the future.

It's not the norm to have an outstanding Canadian that is a QB. That skews Philpot's chances but he might still win.

Philpot should and will get the MOP. Alexander is close, but sometimes you have to consider the position played and this is one of those times.

After due consideration, waffling and fence sitting I have decided I want Philpot also. My reason being he is just so far beyond the pack in yards gained it's ridiculous and he's leading in YAC yards too. Alexander though he is winning and playing great, Harris is only about 150 yards behind him. Outstanding but not AS outstanding as Philpot.

Montreal's a decent team but their record is skewed because 1/3 of their games/wins have come against hopeless Ottawa and QB-less Hamilton. BC beat them soundly as did we, they are not a lock to win the GC this year and if history has taught us anything, is the favoured team usually loses. I see the same thing happening this year

That's the problem with looking at statistics on paper, Harris isn't even in the conversation, 4 straight losses heading into the playoffs confirms he's not a candidate.

I watch all the games and I'm astounded at Alexander nearly every game.  I don't even think I've watched a Rourke game where I was wowed at all.  He's like half an Alexander, but NAT and not damaged goods, and so he gets similar attention.

If you meant Rourke beating Philpot, then maybe, but if so only for the reason you guys stated that QBs always get the awards.  But I think 90% of league fans would say Philpot was robbed.

Let's remember, Rourke was total butt for the first half of the season.  Philpot was lighting it up week 1 thru current week -- never missing a beat or sleeping on a play.

I don't think NFL wants damaged goods.  I think Alexander should take a year off from all football to fully heal, but he'll never do it.

Good point.  And yes, it would appear that way, as unfair as that is.  I guess the only way you could give it to a REC is if their QB got injured halfway through the season and a different QB continued to give them huge yards.  Possible, but not likely.

Obviously receivers have won the award before.

Although in one instance (Geroy Simon 2006) - his QB did get hurt halfway through the year, lol.

I did mean Philpot against Rourke is where we'll see how the votes shake out. I think the Als would still be winning if Philpot was injured but I don't think that is true if Rourke is injured for a significant time.

But then that's simply a numbers thing, and that too would lead to Alexander getting it over philpot. Because take away Alexander and mtl will lose most games, but take away philpot and they still win most.

The problem being, there's only one qb on the field but 5 recs.

Meh, I guess recs are doomed to almost never get recognition then. The qbs really do get all the girls.
