Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: TBURGESS on October 11, 2026, 05:13:37 PMIf he could do that more than once a year, well actually once in 3 years, I'd want him back.

Time to move on from the Zach era and there's no sense delaying it, he's inconsistent and unreliable, can't build a team or another season around those variables. If he played like he did yesterday most of the time I'd hold a different opinion, but that performance has become the exception not the norm.

Ya, looked like the bigger helmet, like dru wears. Probably a good idea.

Noticed he was popping back up much quicker than he normally does and he wasn't waiting for assistance. Strange behaviour on a few fronts, he may be in negotiation for next year's contract.

Unfortunately, Zach seems to have just enough good games to justify continuing.

Until the position is settled long term like they have in other cities with Rourke, Adams, Kelly, Alexander..

Fajardo 34, is doing his best Ricky Ray impersonation, how long it works, who knows

Zach 38, Harris 40...  need future planned replacements.

Ott, Ham, not looking good. Maybe we should have traded Dru at the deadline...
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Don't know if that's what the Bombers were attempting when they acquired Brown but he's only the first step in replacing Zach.  Hoping they attack this problem with a full out blitz and keep bringing in QB prospects until they find the right candidate worthy of developing.

It's quite possible this process could take 3-4 years, which is better than the decades it took previous regimes to produce a good QB.

I don't know how long the Dru experiment will take.  I was hopeful it would go better, but even with his knowledge working with Condell, it seems on a different team with different personnel, the results are the same.

I hope that the next training camp is an open tryout.  Elgersma and Perkins needs chances...

I think Dru is exactly as he's always been since he started shining here.  It's just that now teams have like 2-3 years of film on him with a ton of starts.  I also think he's very limited in what he's good at, and he doesn't see the pictures well and is easily baited/fooled.

He also has no fire whatsoever.  I bet it's this last point that cheesed off Dinwiddie the most.  He's probably like "what's wrong with you, man".

Anyone still thinking Dru is the man, ask yourself if Dru starting would have won that CGY game.  Good luck with that.

Sir Blue and Gold

Dru Brown can be a really successful quarterback but he needs the offensive line and the right system. Some tier one quarterbacks can elevate everyone around them. Others are more game mangers in the Matt Nichols or Kevin Glenn mould.

If Zach retires Brown is the best QB we have on the roster. Safest floor, lowest ceiling. That has value particularly if we can pay him less and shore up the protection with the savings.

If you are hoping Brown is going to turn into Pat Mahomes, you're going to be disappointed. Kirk Cousins still wins lots of games though.

I don't know about that.  I think if given a start or two, Perkins is better.  Just a gut feeling.

Here's a question. Why doesn't Collaros wear one of those foam covers on his helmet to reduce the impact of hits? I hate the look of them but a few players are wearing them.
One game at a time

Quote from: Big Daddy on October 09, 2026, 05:24:40 PMWatched the presser with Zach.  I may be analyzing too much.  However, Zach didn't just jump up and say yes, I am playing next year.  He said he would like to, and followed it up with how he loves to play football.  Kind of a qualifier, as in - of course I would like to play, I love to play football.

I don't see that as him saying he is playing next year whether it is here or somewhere else.  To me it was somewhere between "yeah, it would nice to still play if I could" and "heck yes, why are you asking such a stupid question - of course I am playing next year".

There's a lot of space between those statements, granted.  I just don't think it's a slam dunk he assumes he is playing next year.

I think the effort the other day, might indicate that Zach is retiring, the players probably know, or have a good sense of it,

And did everything they could to get Zach a win in his last home game as a Blue Bomber.

He deserves that tribute, if that's what it was.

Watch the video, it isn't opinion, it's science.

Oh dear lord we would have been killed with Brown as our Qb, he wouldn't have scrambled and made plays like Zach did, wouldn't have completed those long bombs like Zach did and would have thrown his standard 3 picks per game. No to Brown as our #1 Qb EVER!!

Blueforlife

Brown is a good backup and a decent price.  Can win you games as starter.  Has the limitations that Techno mentions.
