Four starters return for Montreal Alouettes against Winnipeg
by 3Down Staff  October 2, 2026

The Montreal Alouettes are getting four starters back in the lineup for Saturday's clash with Winnipeg.

Najee Murray
is returning to his usual strong-side linebacker position, while Wesley Sutton will take over at safety after recovering from injury. Murray has recorded 40 defensive tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception in 10 games this season, sitting out the last two due to a head injury. Sutton has made 32 defensive tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception over the same span and was sidelined with back issues.

Also back at field cornerback is Don Callis, who served a one-game suspension for his role in a sideline altercation against B.C. Rookie defensive backs Neil Campbell and Gemon Green have both been demoted to the practice roster to make room, as has linebacker Quinn Urwiler.

Up front, veteran defensive tackle Dylan Wynn will make his 2026 debut after signing with the Als at the start of the week, though he is listed as a rotational piece. Defensive end Julian Howsare is not yet ready to go after being acquired via trade from Hamilton on Tuesday, but T.J. Guy will dress as depth at that position. Defensive tackle Decarius Hawthorne has been returned to the practice roster.

On the other side of the ball, receiver Jerreth Sterns is ready to make his return from a hand injury after last suiting up in Week 2. He made 10 catches for 121 yards through the first two games. Veteran American pass catcher Alexander Hollins and Canadian target Kaseem Ferdinand will both spend the week on the reserve roster to make room.

The Montreal Alouettes (11-3) will host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-7) on Saturday, October 3, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Blue Bombers are coming off a tight loss to the Argonauts, while the Alouettes were on bye.

The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS2 in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 680 CJOB in Winnipeg or TSN 690 (English) or 99.5 Montreal (French) in Montreal.

Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: Pigskin on Today at 03:40:48 PM8 DBs, 8 LBs, 8 DTs, nice balance. Smith out is going to hurt. Stuart getting a few more reps will be interesting to see what he can do. Hansen could add a little to our pass rush. Will be nice to have him on teams.

Smith must be banged up to hold him out as he was doing well, doubt Stuart gets a single rep on D in place of Griffin, he's on there for ST only as well as Hansen I suspect.

Condell is purging the offence of Natls from 6 down to 5, shifting more of the ratio burden to the defence in an attempt to save his skin, without Smith it becomes a bit more difficult as only Kramdi and Lawson are starting caliber, if either go down Schmeck or Kelly will have to fill in.

The funny thing is he hasn't shifted the burden to defense at all. We've basically only started one or two nationals there all season.  Same tomorrow. We just aren't starting more than we need to all of a sudden. Maybe someone above O'Shea looked at the standings and had a conversation about winning.

Quote from: Blue In BC on Today at 04:15:25 PMGood questions so we'll see how the changes work out. It may come down to the health of many starters that missed most or all of practice.

In particular Demski and Oliveria.
Yeah they drive the bus

I bet Stuart gets a couple reps at LB

O'Shea mentioned he's nicked up a bit.
