Great news. Doesn't hurt to see if they can make it happen. I'd love to go to QC, haven't been for like 35 years. This would be a great excuse.

Guess we'll have to start worrying about losing our near-stars soon, just like when the redblacks materialized.

Would be nice as when I retire would like to see all the stadiums and this one would be on the bucket list and you are right, its lovely there

Building something like Hamilton's fairly basic stadium which started construction in 2012 ($145 million cost) would be at least $250 million today and likely closer to $300 million given the exponential rise in construction costs.

Laval is 12,500 seats, and easily expandable, like McGill was.  No need for a brand new stadium.  And the new field size fits, like at McGill.  If expanding to 25k costs more than $50 mil, I'd be surprised.  And when you are already ponying up $25 mil for a franchise fee, not an issue.  Especially in this climate of gov't funded infrastructure.

This stadium looks pretty hemmed in by university buildings, I'm sure the students won't mind if they knock down a few structures for the benefit of a private CFL team owner.

Having lived a few blocks away from the Université du Laval, it is not expandable. As others have said, it is hemmed in by other buildings, including their multi-purpose centre.

I've heard that the price tag is about $340M and that it would likely involve dismantling the Colisée Pepsi that was purpose built for a Nordiques team that never came.

No movement will happen on this until after the election, since no one wants the albatross of putting it into their election platform.

It would absolutely cost more than $50 mil. All those seats are just benches, and one side is just built into the concrete. This would be a full rebuild, not much aside from the field that could remain.
