Brady has silenced the critics with his play as of late.

Already broke the record for 5x1000 and now is chasing an all time CFL legend with 6x1000.

He is worth every penny and won't be coming out of the lineup nor will he be spelled off lol.

Brady has the record for a Canadian with the most consecutive seasons 1000 rushing seasons.

Charlie had 6 1000 yard seasons but they werent consecutive.

Players ahead of Brady for most consecutive 1000 yards seasons:

Kelvin Anderson: 8 consecutive seasons (1996–2003)

Joffrey Reynolds: 6 consecutive seasons (2005–2010)

The next notable milestone for Brady is he needs less than 300 yards rushing to pass Jon Cornish to become the 3rd all-time Canadian rusher.

Cornish's 6,844 yards has him currently ranked 16th for all-time rushing yards.

Thanks, Google failed me on this one.

That said, next season Brady can TIE (not break) Charlie's Bomber record of 6 consecutive 1000 rushing seasons.

He's not worth $300K when it impacts what we can spend elsewhere on the roster. Our roster is out of balance the last couple of seasons.

The goal of any team is to win the Grey Cup which we did not do in 2022-2025. We aren't a good bet to do so in 2026.

So while it's a great achievement for him, it's not working out for the team per se.

It's not all his fault but we're paying too much for several veterans and we're not spending wisely.

You may have said the same thing about A.  Harris and didn't want to see Oliveria getting reps in the early days.  There is always an SMS limit and succession in football.

I'm less concerned about the 50,000 overpay on Brady, and more concerned about the fact we are top of the league in terms of what we are paying at the QB position, but 7th in terms of the quality of play we are getting there. That will be what dooms us this year if we fail to make the playoffs or are an early out.

The Bombers probably make some decisions based on things larger than winning the championship.

Brady's position as a very important role model for certain groups of kids in Manitoba for example.

He's the same role model as when he was earning less money. What he's paid is not relevant to that claim. There is no doubt he's a top player and an excellent role model. You don't have to be a Canadian or earning top money to be a role model. Take Streveler for example.

As mentioned in the post above that Collaros is another player that is over paid.

I don't really care what any player is earning when they are winning games and championships. Look at the top 2 CFL teams and neither are paying their RB's much in comparison. The Elks have had to use a RB from their PR and absolutely smoked the Stamps on the weekend.

Powell had 97 yards rushing for a 6.9 yard average.

Brady is having his best season and will very probably finish 1st overall in riushing. OTOH, the Bombers are 4th in the West and success going forward is tentative.

I think the Offensive Line is playing a big part of that 7th in terms of quality from the QB. With a moderate upgrade, we could probably get that up to 3rd or 4th which is probably enough as long as the other parts of the team (Defense, Special Teams) continue to play well.

There is some truth to this, both Zach and Dru would look better behind a better O-line. By the same token, I think Zach makes the O-line look worse than it is. He hangs onto the ball too long, is reluctant to throw it away out of bounds, has poor mobility relative to other QBs, and has poor pocket presence, all of which lead to more sacks.

He's earning $100K more than Rankin who is listed as the 2nd highest paid RB in the CFL. Being a Canadian comes with a premium cost but that's a lot more.

As in all decisions, if he was paid $50K-$75K less, would we have spent the extra money elsewhere that would have improved the team?

I would have been just as satisfied paying Collaros $100K less and using it to improve our OL more.  It's never a black and white solution.

All of that is true but I've pointed out we don't have the best receiving group either. We don't have that " Lawler " player that scares the defence and prevents crowding the LOS.

Even if we did it wouldn't really matter with Collaros in there. He can't exactly navigate the pocket really well and then bomb one down field.

The ingredients to neutralize some of the interior pressure we've been seeing is hard to solve with Collaros and Brady back there together.

We saw more perimeter run attack in the Banjo Bowl, especially early with receiver screens, but it's more situation management than anything resembling a real fix.

Brady is and will continue to be worth every penny.  Just like Lawler to an extent but Brady gets the Cdn and consistency bonus imo.

Some went from saying to sit him, to spelling him and a few provide the narrative that he is too expensive, which I disagree.

The best are paid the highest.  I would not have suggested to give Brady reps early over Harris unless there was an exceptional reason to do so.

This clubs success is on the back of three things imo:
1.OL
2.QB
3.RB

1 and 2 are pretty equal.  A strong RB sets up the deep ball and vice versa.

Brady will go down as one of the best Cdn backs ever.  If I was in charge he would retire here.  Find Brady 2.0 and rinse repeat.

SMS and succession planning are trumped for now as we still enjoy a back at or near his peak.

A good debate.

How do you know when you have Brady 2.0 if you aren't looking for him. I'm not suggesting Peterson is that guy but how would we know? Obviously most of us don't even get to go watch practice.

Some of us suggested he should sit for a game and get healthy. That would also allow live reps for Peterson to see where he fits into future plans.

Lawler was also over paid here and now in Hamilton. The difference was that while he was here we went to the Grey Cup.

You often use the phrase " worth every penny ". That's interesting since it's not about what any player earns but how it impacts the roster across the board.

By my definition he's over paid whether he deserves that amount or not, is not the point.
