All of that is true but I've pointed out we don't have the best receiving group either. We don't have that " Lawler " player that scares the defence and prevents crowding the LOS.

Spending the most doesn't always equate to having the best players, your Lawler reference is a prime example, he recently signed a contract that will pay him $1 million over 3 years but in 6 completed seasons he's gained 1k yds only 2 times.

Very true. Teams have to decide where to spend money and where to improve a given roster. That said a player can be the " best " but on the wrong team to utilize his strengths. In the case of Lawler, the TiCats lost BLM so that changes the equation.

I'd disagree that when he was on the Bombers that he didn't influence our success.

4 seasons in Winnipeg and we won the Grey Cup twice and lost twice. Since he left we have NOT made it to the Grey Cup. Take what you want from that in a team game.

In 2025 Lawler had nearly 1450 yards and the TiCats finished 1st. This year with an injured BLM not so much and chances are they miss the playoffs all together.

How do you know when you have Brady 2.0 if you aren't looking for him. I'm not suggesting Peterson is that guy but how would we know? Obviously most of us don't even get to go watch practice.

Some of us suggested he should sit for a game and get healthy. That would also allow live reps for Peterson to see where he fits into future plans.

Lawler was also over paid here and now in Hamilton. The difference was that while he was here we went to the Grey Cup.

You often use the phrase " worth every penny ". That's interesting since it's not about what any player earns but how it impacts the roster across the board.

Peterson is good insurance for now.  I have no interest with him in the lineup unless Brady is hurt and can't go.  He came on the lineup and got no touches from what I seen.  Not worth having him come on imo.  He has shown flashes we have an idea already what he can do.

Peterson is a potential free agent even if he ends up on the AR at the end of the season. If he finishes the season on the PR then he becomes a free agent immediately.

Oliveria probably has another 2 or 3 season in his career, barring serious injury. Potentially a little longer but a lot can happen between then and now.

He has 2 more years left in his contract and turns 30 next August.

Passing on all  time great players happens all the time. We passed on A. Harris, Jeffcoat, Bighill and J. Grant. We even passed on C. Roberts.  It is a fine line but it's business eventually.
