Yeah Clinton was very good but I can't remember where he played

Depending on his injury Woodbey is in tough but he has shown enough flashes to give him another shot imo

Quote from: Tecno on Today at 01:56:50 AMI don't know... how long does it take a Woodbey-type SAM/WILL hybrid to reach their full potential?  AFAIK Woodbey only got a couple of dresses last year, and only started being an every-game guy this year.

How long did it take our other great guys like this to turn into all-stars?

It's a bit more confusing as I'm still not sure what we're pegging Woodbey as -- SAM or WILL.  He's been charted at both, though in-game I think it sometimes changes.

It takes high football IQ, good speed and tackling ability to play SAM. None of those are something Woodbey has shown IMO.

Quote from: Tecno on Today at 01:46:08 AMJones should not ever be left alone on a REC.  If he was then that's 100% a failure of scheme, or a player brain toot.  It's the exact same thing with Kelly.  In no world should he be one-on-one with someone.  Ever.

When I do my rewatch I'll figure out for you who blew the Mimbs play.

Yeah I'd be curious to know what you think. I didn't re-watch the game and have since deleted it.

Mimbs is a Canadian receiver that only has 14 receptions in 10 games. So he's not a prime target and we tend to leave " that guy " open as a check down. If the RB went to the other side and Jones wasn't schemed to rush the QB, then you'd think that was his responsibility.

I think the CB came up to make a tackle and Jones converged at the same time knocking the ball loose?

A bit ironic since IIRC you were one who was really high on him last season in his few dresses. No?

I'm not being snarky, as ya, as you get more looks one can revise their stance.

I'd say his football iq is probably the hardest part to overcome. He does seem to get fooled somewhat easily, falling for the obvious bait good o's employ.
Never go full Johnston!

True. I did think he had some upside when he started playing last year. He seemed to be involved in making a lot of tackles.

That can be deceptive if those are made well past the LOS. Like every new player, teams start getting more film and look for weaknesses.

I don't think he was playing SAM in 2025 but was more of an extra LB when they went to 3 man DL schemes. Now with injuries his role has changed and the liabilities are showing up more.

It's hard to keep up with all the rotations on defence on TV and figuring out who is doing what or why.

If his injury is serious as speculated, there is a good chance he won't be able to play for nearly a year ( achilles ). As a potential free agent, a replacement will be found in TC.

In 2025 he had 30 DT's in 8 games. This year he has 10 DT's in 6 games.  That could mean many things. Teams could be staying away from him or it could mean he's out of position and late to the party getting involved.

Roster shuffle this week?

Demski should be back.

Hazen and Clark might be ok to go but I don't think they get added back.

Peterson probably comes off with Demski returning.

Any other guesses?

Pete

Singer has to stay on roster, hopefully Kramdl returns
They will likely add an import lb to replace Woodbey, Moxey may also replace Texada, Which means another import might sit. Who will likely depend on injury status ie Ceresna, Wilson
Id say Hazen but OShea never has less than 4 imports at lb

Moxey for Texada is a one for one trade off. So no problem if that happens.  OTOH, Texada might still be a better player to keep than Hazen who only plays ST's.

I think the criticism of Woodbey is a little overstated.  At the very least a good rotational guy that could have developed into a starter maybe but this injury is such a setback.  I have enjoyed both BnBC and Techno's takes, as usual.  Go figure ;).

I think Griffin has surpassed Woodbey now though.
