Hamilton Tiger-Cats swap running backs for Labour Day Classic

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will have a new starting running back for their annual Labour Day Classic clash with the Toronto Argonauts.

Larry Rountree III, who has appeared in all 12 games for the Ticats this season, has been placed on the reserve roster, meaning he will not play this week. The 27-year-old ball carrier was not listed on the team's injury report at any point this week, which would suggest the change is performance-related.

The native of Raleigh, N.C., has rushed 139 times for 572 yards and one touchdown in his first CFL season, while catching 31 passes for 163 yards. He was originally a sixth-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2021 NFL Draft, after earning second-team All-SEC honours at the University of Missouri.

Nahree Biggins will make his CFL debut in place of Rountree. The six-foot-one, 210-pound ball-carrier played 34 collegiate games at Central Michigan University, where he made 13 starts and rushed for 676 yards, caught 22 passes for 192 yards, and scored three touchdowns. He originally committed to the school as a defensive back, recording 16 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass knockdowns, and one interception.

Elsewhere on the roster, Monday will mark the return of depth Canadian receiver Tyler Ternowski and offensive lineman Jonathan Denis, the team's 2026 first-round pick, after injury absences. Canadian offensive lineman Brayden Szeman and receiver Hakeem Harris have been sent back to the practice roster.

Canadian defensive back Robert Panabaker has been placed on the one-game injured list due to a hamstring issue. Uber-athletic third-round pick Devynn Cromwell, who tore his meniscus while vertical jumping over 40 inches at his Michigan State pro day, will make his CFL debut.

Lirim Hajrullahu making Labour Day return for Toronto Argonauts

The Toronto Argonauts will have a familiar face back in the lineup for the Labour Day Classic against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Veteran kicker Lirim Hajrullahu is slated to make his return to the lineup after missing the past five games with a hamstring issue. The move comes after Toronto cut his replacement, Brady Lidster, earlier this week.

Hajrullahu was struggling at the time of his removal from the lineup. The 36-year-old had connected on 12-of-18 field goals (66.7 percent) and 18-of-20 extra-point attempts through six games. In Week 7, he missed one convert and two field goals, including the potential walk-off game-winner in a loss to Hamilton. While he was eventually placed on the six-game injured list, his absence was initially announced as non-injury-related.

The Western University product began his professional career in 2014 and has since made stops with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Argos, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Los Angeles Rams, Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Philadelphia Stars. He returned to Toronto in 2024 and has earned consecutive East Division all-star selections, bringing his career total to four. He was named All-CFL in 2025 after making 57-of-64 field goal attempts (89.1 percent) and 32-of-33 extra points.

Joining Hajrullahu in his return to the lineup is backup Canadian defensive lineman Paris Shand, who has recovered from an oblique injury, while American defensive back Alex Teubner has been placed on the one-game injured list. Akili Arnold will replace him in a depth role, as Canadian linebacker Jalen Rayam gets demoted to the practice roster.

If he touches the ball at the T1 instead of the T0 the no yards penalty is applied from the 1 yard line - ball on the 16.

Touching the ball in goal, according to the rule book, is a 15 yard penalty applied from the 15 yard line - ball on the 30, no point. I'm not sure why it was applied from the 40 - ball on 55.
