Quote from: Blue In BC on August 09, 2026, 09:50:56 PMBroxton is a LT by history and we signed him to a big contract. Both QB's were injured from hits coming from the left side.

He was the west division most outstanding OL, in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Not a bad idea to start Broxton at LT and move Stan to right to see if he can compete with Vanterpool.  For the good of the team he either plays a lot better or sits on the RR for the rest of the season, enjoying his money for nothing and his chicks for free.

T-4) Jarell Broxton, Winnipeg Blue Bombers (A)

Hard money: $250,000
Maximum value: $250,000

The native of Olney, Md. joined Winnipeg in free agency after being named All-CFL for the first time in his career with the B.C. Lions in 2025. Broxton got a $125,000 bonus to sign with the Blue Bombers, and will earn an additional $94,600 in salary, $15,400 in housing, $10,000 in marketing, and $5,000 in travel in 2026.

That's very odd because it looked like knee. Unless a boot can cover the knee as well?

If it's just an ankle boot then it might just be a sprain, which would be the best case scenario, I guess. Hopefully not Achilles.

Something something old dogs new tricks something something.

Far easier to try to turn Broxton into Yoshi than Stan into anything. Yoshi has to be fast and mobile and swing around. LT just needs to stand there and try not to get beat.

LT is critical to the pass game, RT is critical to the run game. Our run game has been downhill ever since Yoshi left. I'm starting to wonder if the rule that LTs make more money isn't backwards.

It's called blindside for a reason.

Quote from: Jesse on August 09, 2026, 09:13:52 PMIn an underperforming defence, I can't really say this is going to be a big step back for us. Woodbey steps in and does the same job.
Woodbey is good and lucky to have him but I'll stick with my guns on this one.  MOS said he will be missed based on his speed, flexibility and quickness.  Our depth at LB took another hit here.  This is why you carry so many so that next man up isn't a big downgrade.

Griffin was a big light on a bad defensive unit.

Griffin was 3rd. on the team with 35 DTs. He was having a pretty good year. Tough break, but it's next man up.
Don't go through life looking in the rearview mirror.

Ya, but LT needs to passrush-block and seal.  RT needs to passrush-block, seal, roadgrade, and swing around roadgrade!

I guess the difference is one is critical (LT), and the other is gravy (RT).  But when you're missing that gravy, boy does your run game suffer (see: WPG since Yoshi left).

That said, I think Broxton was learning run-block at a steady pace and improving every week.  Still not even half a Yoshi, but probably already better than a Vant.  I wonder if/how this will translate when he eventually switches to our LT?  Will we have the best LT that can also roadgrade??

I said last pickems that that was the last chance I was giving WPG.  I'm not sure yet if I'll make myself a liar...

But this will get ugly REALLY REALLY fast if Mafia & co blow this one, especially with Zach back.  Boo birds will be out.  The online abuse will go to level 11.

After this game the next home game will be vs MTL, which is pretty much a guaranteed loss unless we unethically "concentrate" on that hammy.  Then SSK here for BB.  There may not be another win at home (or anywhere!) until garbage season.

If they want to show they are turning this around, it has to emphatically be done vs OTT.  They can't play it safe and stay even into the 4th.  It needs to be an early blowout -- in OUR favor.  I hope, I really hope, that Zach is given 110% of the book to work with, and we get a "good Zach" night.  And don't take hits -- slide or throw it away.  One tap and we're back to Elgs and everyone leaves the stadium.

With Zach back, our offense should click (hopefully!!), there may be some rust from him being out so long but heck, we should beat Ottawa , I m not sure we can beat any other team, but surely 0-8 Ottawa doesn't get their first win in our barn, as you're right, boo birds will be beyond ballistic, we would become the laughing stock of the cfl. And looking at the schedule, after the Ottawa game there is some serious tough sledding coming up where we are going to get beat down severely
