Replace Griffin with Smith and utilize an import at safety, Maybe Mathew Jackson, or move Nichols and replace with import at db

It is very sucky that Cam Allen got injured.

On paper that sounds ok. In reality we don't know much about Jackson. Moving Nichols to safety and replacing him with Jackson might be part of a bigger solution.

As I suggested earlier I'm expecting Woodbey to slide in at SAM. What happens at safety and DHB could change in some format.

Texada might have an edge to be used at DHB but even that is not certain. His advantage is that he was here for the full TC but at CB.

Yes and no. It seemed fairly obvious that Kramdi was being moved to safety. That didn't leave room for Allen on the AR just due to ratio etc. It became a question about whether he'd accept a role on the PR or how we deal with that situation.

Put another way, 8 only played about 8 games and wasn't certain to make the roster at all.

I'm not dissing him but that was the way it looked before TC and decisions made.

Now with other injuries, there may have been a role for him, bu timing is everything when making those choices.

I never fully believed that. Even Kramdi at "safety" isn't really what Allen was doing. I think Allen would be on the roster if this wasn't an injury issue. Especially since our secondary has sucked, he'd be in now even if he didn't start the season starting.

Thanks he wasn't a starter last season, so it's hard to remember.

You aren't taking into effect either the ratio or domino effect. Griffin took over at SAM when Kramdi moved to safety. I

How do you maintain the ratio and find room for another import on the roster. All of that is beyond whether Allen is a good, bad or average safety.

It's the same problem now if we choose to add another import. In theory there might be a spot now if Griffin is out.

I wouldn't have changed anything from last year. Allen would be at safety, Kramdi would have been at SAM and They'd have to drop some other important off the roster. It's not a challenging thought process, imo. And I think it's what would of happened if not for Allen's injury.

IMO it was pre-determined before TC started. It was how they were going to get Griffin on as a full time starter as opposed to a rotational player.

It's easy to say just drop someone off the roster but clearly they didn't plan to do that. In fact they have made zero effort to find and roster an import safety even after having an injury to Kramdi.

The question has been the same every week for over a year. How do we add an import that we should have without taking an import LB off the roster while maintaining the ratio.

I've long argued to take Ayers off the roster for a player at another position. That doesn't add a starting import to the roster though.

Ultimately you need to find another starting Canadian. Those on the DL are not good enough to be full time even as a rotational group. Smith is not ready to be a full time starter.

If Allen was healthy today, you still would have a problem getting him on the roster.

Like I said you aren't taking ratio ramifications into the reality of our roster.

Now that Griffin may be lost due to injury we'll have an open spot for a DI. That doesn't open a spot for an import safety starting.  Woodbey moves from DI to a starter in theory.

Go ahead. Tell me which starting import on defence you want to move to a DI spot and which Canadian gets more reps? I'll repeat that some suggestions included starting Ball at CB or Smith at SAM.

You'll have to ask yourself why there wasn't more competition in TC for an import safety if that was the plan?

Watch the game, Jake Kelly is currently playing in Allen's Safety spot, Kramdi is playing a different unrestricted position that no body else can cover without a high level of instruction where to line up for each play.  Kramdi is at the level of coach on the field and he probably decides himself where he's needed most.
