I don't think Jones is going back to MLB... We're using him on many downs as a DE, sliding over from his WILL spot.  A couple of people already noticed this.

I think this lets us show 3 and bring 4, as well as spell Willie, and give us flexibility on subsequent passing downs.

We have been doing this so much, I think it's becoming an integral part of the scheme, and it's something Kyrie can't do.  If we wanted Jones @MLB we'd need to swap out Kyrie for a beefier guy.  I'm not sure Smith or Woodbey is that guy.

Quote from: Tecno on August 06, 2026, 02:25:49 AMI'm not sure Younger has ever been the brains behind anything.  It's not really possible to know exactly how the D coaching is structured, but I have my guesses.  What if Hall was still the brains but Younger is the people & ops guy?  You do need both, and it was clear Hall couldn't do the day-to-day on-field stuff anymore.

Regardless of the breakdown of duties, it's failing big time.  It's really sickening how the middle fat and at least one edge are usually 100% wide open for 20Y every direction on basically every play.  Teams have learned that's what we do, so the QB run up the middle or the edge run/hitch is almost always available on every down for a free & cheap conversion.

And if anyone was going to know how to abuse it, it was Buck.

The good news is there are not that many brave running QB's left in the league, maybe Rourke  still has the green light to go but Alexander, Adams and Kelly run with caution that the next long gallop could be their last.

1Q2:05 Brady has a nice soft pocket of hoggies to follow and instead he stays outside and gets stuffed costing us a probable TD.  Where's the vision?  Where's the decision making?  By the look of the hoggie pocket that was the designed play, it was Brady who went the wrong way, and there's no apparent reason why.

2Q6:30 UR "piling on" on Cadwall: there was no whistle before Cadwall hit him!  He thought it was live because it was!  Dude was not obviously down.  This is totally the fault of the refs and their perennially-late whistles!  This should not be a penalty.  If you look at the BC guy it looks like he's still struggling to get up and get yards: Cadwall doesn't know his knee is down behind what is visible to him!  Command needs to check these out, note the time of the whistle, and pick up the flag!!

3Q4:52 3 man BC pass rush beats 5+1 OL and sacks Dru.  Sums up the night.  Pathetic.  (Dru hurts his back on this, after being barely touched.  Might actually be the wimpiest QB of the CFL in the last 10 years.)

3Q1:30 Probably our best Brady run of the season.  The super-jumbo unit made a really nice corridor for Brady and even kept the 1st level occupied the whole time so they didn't just crash from behind.  It took their 2nd safety to +1 the blockers and make the tackle.  Too bad Brady can't make 1 guy miss anymore.  This is the type of run all our gut runs should be like.  All the other teams do it, why can't we?

4Q3:29 When they blow the kick dead, look at the faces of everyone on the WPG sideline.  Everyone looks like they are watching impending doom coming at them.  Everyone, like 9 people in the shot. Some are looking at MOS, who looks just as doomed as everyone.  Compare with BC's sideline.  Remember, at this moment BC is up only 1.  It was this moment I said to the guy sitting next to me: "we're gonna lose this game".  Where are the team leaders?

4Q2:46 Hahahahaha Buck catches us with a Lapo "we're not ready, see we're not snapping, we're still getting the call" Winnipeg Special.  No one on our D is ready, they think nothing is happening yet. Hahahaha.  What a stupid team we have.  So unprepared.  So pathetic that BC is hitting us with all of our old tricks and yet we never, ever, ever run a trick play of our own anymore.  So badly coached.  And with Kramdi out it would appear not a single player on D has any brain cells.  Look at BC to see what a prepared team looks like.  We don't prepare.  We aren't serious.  Just giving the middle finger to all the home fans.  Beaten by a nobody QB who probably wouldn't win a game against anyone else.

Where are the morale guys?  Where is the morale, period?  Disgusting failure of a team mired in its own muck with no leaders and no hope just willing to roll over and take it at home.  The instant Elgs went 2 & out because he can't read a crashing-down DE, they should have put in Perkins.  The whole world knew Elgs wasn't going to do anything after that.  They showed him leaving the field after his last series and he looked like he was crying.  Good.  Cry.  You got punked by a 120 lb nobody rookie QB who didn't win squat in U ball and was only expected to be 4th string; and you handed the ball away 3-4 times in about as many plays.  Go to the RR and dev, because you shouldn't see the field for even 1 more snap for all 2026.

Wow, Salter is both a better QB than Dru, and a better RB than Brady.  All in one package.  BC would be dumb to ever put Brice in again.  He was doing things in this game neither Dru nor Brady could ever do.  Sad.

Sankey is just too darn good.  So many plays of ours would have gone for double yards if Sankey was a more "normal" MLB.  Sankey was as fast as many of our ball carriers -- just crazy. And he sniffs out every play early.  We should be scheming away from him: more edge runs, deeper passes, etc; but instead we decided to scheme right into him.  Dumb.

Brady could only wish he could run even half as fast as Horvath, though they are roughly the same weight -- and yet Horvath could still be considered a "power back", just like Brady.  Forget Brady, trade him away and get Horvath.  He's earning 1/3 what Brady is.  Don't care that he's an IMP.  (I joke... or do I??)

Basically every big run by BC to end the 4th had a big legit point-of-contact hold that should have been called.  Why doesn't our OL hold like that?

I really, really hate watching WPG/BC games when Farhan is calling it.  You can't get a bigger homer than that dude.

Our edge contain has been garbage for 2 seasons.  Why do we continually get destroyed on the edge yet every single team has edge contain our O can't break if their lives depended on it?  If our D scheme cannot solve the easy edge contain that everyone else can solve, then the D scheme is useless and must be discarded.  Same with leaving the middle of the flat open for QB escapes every single game.  In our scheme everyone crashes down to the line when they see run and if a hoggie or blocker makes just one decent play then that's it, it's a 50Y run.  There are never any levels to our D.  No one sheds blocks.  Every blocker dictates what happens, our DL and LBers dictate nothing.  If you're not stopping the run at the line, then at least have some levels to your D so someone has a shot at a tackle in space or running the carrier down.

BC in TD or FG range at the end, why are they not going for points?  We only face BC twice this season.  Points matter.  Unless they think we are so pathetic that there's no way we're tied come season-end.  And/or Buck took pity on his old Jedi master.  Probably all of the above.

Here's a hint for the braintrust: when a player gets 2 TDs on you, stop with your normal system and focus on that player.  This is what good teams do.  Good teams when they play EDM focus on Rankin.  Good teams when they play HAM (pre-BLM injury) focus on Kenny.  To do anything else is certain death.  So when McAllister rips you for 2 in the CGY game, and Horvath rips you for 2 in the BC game, why aren't you changing your focus to those players?  Your system failed to stop them twice, and we all know that in football an O is going to keep hitting you with what is working until you stop them.  And that's what these teams/players did!  That is the utter failure in the last 2 games, and it's unforgivable.  Something needs to be done.

We did that all last season too. I don't really think his role has changed all that much.

Extremely odd: is this the first game years WFC didn't do a post-game presser of the QB that finished the game?  They instead had a Willie interview, to go along with the MOS one.

Usually the QB that finished the game (win or lose) does a presser.

WFC overly protecting Elgs again??

Weird.

Nobody would want to listen to a word he said so why interview him.

Because that's WFC tradition?  I'm nearly positive we interviewed Elgs after he stepped in to beat HAM a few weeks ago.  It looks kinda bad on WFC/Elgs that we don't then interview him after a loss.  Like what, he's crying or pouting or storming out of the building?  Not a great look.

Then putting it all on Willie's shoulders, LOL.  He's probably the only guy who stood up and volunteered to take one for the team after that disgusting mess.

Press puts in their requests and the team or player can say yes or no.

I'm not sure why anyone would request Elgs in this situation, tbh.

I'm not talking the tsn interviews. I'm talking the wfc run and sanctioned post games we get after every single game. The ones posted to the home page of bb.com.

To date, afaik, it's always mos and the ending qb. Sometimes there will be a third, but in every case it will be hc and qb.

Just scroll thru gbg's wonderful videos stickied thread. You'll see the trend instantly.

Oh ya, and I'd want to hear from the qb. So that's one person.

Or even dru. But I don't think they've ever put the departed qb in there. At least they never have with Zach.

Why would I want to hear from the pathetic loser qb after a pathetic loss? Morbid curiosity. See if he throws anyone under the bus. See if they give any excuses. Watching for mental fortitude... Or weakness.

You know, like Cody's infamous "the goal post is 92 percent air" presser. That's solid gold, that is.
