I don't understand why we gave elgersma game reps over Perkins.The guy couldn't make a USFL roster while the other guy was leagues MVP. It's a no brainer really. When brown stalls out in the Montreal game or worse throws his standard 3 interceptions in a game, put Perkins in for god sake!!!

He couldn't get clearance to play in the USFL without the right paperwork. Whether he would have made a roster and /o r flamed out we'll never know.

We gave him game reps because he was a high CFL draft choice that was highly regarded pre draft.

I have no idea whether he's better now or will be better in the future over Perkins. Time will tell but we're hoping he has upside. He seems to be a pocket type QB and that is not always the best skill set type in the CFL.  I didn't particularly want to draft him but the jury is out until he gets playing time.

He will still be listed as our # 2 QB if Collaros doesn't play this week. It's conceivable that our OL gets Brown injured and he will be forced to play. We might see both of the back ups get reps depending on what happens with our normal top 2 QB's.

At one point in Friday's game the passing yards were 8 for Toronto, 170ish for Winnipeg.
They ended up 290 for Toronto, 193 for Winnipeg.

Yes that's puzzling but we've seen our offence totally take in the 2nd half of other games. The other teams adjust and we don't. The OC has to take a lot of the blame. Starting 3 Canadian receivers was never a great plan. Defences don't fear them as a group.

I agree that this is more of an OC issue than a QB issue. If we are doing well in the first half, it's easy to just say "keep it up boys!". If we're losing there are always half time adjustments and tweaks to the play-calling.
You have to be a step ahead.
I'd like to see the Condell offence numbers in the first half vs the second half of games in games where they are losing at half and winning at half. I think he's actually got a great offensive playbook, and when he's got a plan he's calling plays well. But coming out of halftime, the defense adjusts, and Condell has to wing it, he struggles.

It's a tough job, and like I said, he's actually a solid OC. He just has some flaws.
He could really benefit from an assistant, or someone in analytics who can help him structure a second half. Or he could put a bigger focus in planning for defensive adjustments.

I'd like to see him call the offence until Zach retires, and then I'd love to see Zach in the OC role!

Whatever they hoped would happen under Condell is not really happening and I don't think he will be renewed for next season unless he shows amazing growth in the last few games.

Inability to adjust the game plan to defensive adjustments as if he doesn't realize they're happening or doesn't recognize the changes has cost the team multiple games. The players have shown they can execute when the game plan is working but they go from studs to duds very quickly when it's not.

He isn't an OC that integrates Natl. players into his plans well and brings out the best in them. MCI, Clercius, Nield have all become supporting cast members with low performance expectations who have failed to develop into the players they could become despite having physical advantages over many of their teammates. As they say with lower expectations comes lower performance. Instead of diversifying the attack with more weapons, he eliminates options and focuses on a few select targets, including paring down the running game to Brady only. How does this make the offence more dangerous?

Gavin Cobb is lucky if he gets one ball thrown his way per game, how the hell do you work magic with that allowance? If that was me I'd zing the ball back at the QB's head and tell him to plant it!
