Quote from: Sway on July 20, 2026, 12:43:46 AMIf there is 5 Redblacks right around the ball surely someone else is more open

On this play Brady had snuck into the flat for a dump pass, but Dru was fixated on 4X-covered deep shot.  I think he had tunnel vision.  Zach can be a bit like that too.  I don't know why when there's so many evil jerseys around that they don't peek at the other options -- 4-5 D's on one REC means someone is probably open.

I have no idea why we don't coach our QBs to stare at that, pump fake, then dump it to Brady.

It was a guaranteed 1st down for Brady.  And for everyone thinking Dru is the savior and Zach is "bad"... Dru is basically a younger Zach.  He's so much like young Zach it's not even funny.  Though Zach definitely ran/scrambled more -- so it might be worse: Dru might not even be as good as young Zach.

I actually agree with this, but there is time and room to grow. Zach can mentor him..but natural talent and instinct is natural and cannot be taught.

Haha OB is calling tonight the reverse Crumback.  I enjoy that!

Quote from: Tecno on July 20, 2026, 03:13:36 AMBecause Brady takes way too long to let the blocks setup, but in the meantime the edge guys come around (in this case from both sides!) and tackle his legs.  Everyone has learned that's the way to stop our run game.  Our OL goes to the 2nd level way too soon and the 1st level collapses in behind them.

Either the hoggies have to linger longer blocking the 1st level, or Brady has to hit it faster.  And I don't think he will/can, because he NEVER does.

As such teams stop Brady waaaay too easily.  It's actually embarrassing and it makes him look like a $300k chump.

Yes I saw 2 plays for sure where broxton let the outside guy run by him only to stop Brady in the backfield, this is a blocking assignment error my gosh you can't govevth a free pass into the backfield to tackle us before the LOS, who the heck is our O line coach?!?!

Quote from: Sway on July 20, 2026, 01:21:29 AMYou decline and go 3rd and 6.  Every single time.

I thought it was very strange.  The only thing I can think of is Maier couldn't complete a single mid/deep shot unless it was an extended play.  OTT was playing max dink & dunk.  Maybe we figured we could force an INT by having them 2nd & 15?

Still seems like quite a gamble.  Most teams convert 2nd & very long on us quite easily because we always go prevent D.

Quote from: dd on July 20, 2026, 01:16:31 AMIt was a stupid and totally unnecessary penalty that cost us a touchdown. Yes totally over rated has only caught one pass in his career

And some people still question if it was complete...

Quote from: Pete on July 20, 2026, 12:58:14 AMOttawa has figured out we cant stop a five yard pass

I knew Dinwiddie was going to dial up max dink & dunk.  Short pass & heavy runs and WPG D has no answer.  This proves absolutely no one in WFC spent the off-season thinking up ways to beat SSK and the dink & dunk.  OTT went max dink & dunk just like Dinwiddie's '24 GC.

Why do anything else when you a) fully neuter our D, and b) win ToP and massively tire our guys out so they're dead by the 4th.  And it's even worse than that because the max dink & dunk vs WPG D is sooooo boring for everyone to watch.

SSK so going to cream us in 5 weeks.  The saving grace is we only get SSK twice this season.

Quote from: Sway on July 20, 2026, 01:32:53 AMConsistently throws in very tight windows with 4 defensive players around

It's very bizarre.  It's like if Condell & Dru get zone they just HAVE to throw the mid zone sit or crosser.  I like the idea of aiming deeper on average, but you have to also notice when the zone is too tight, or DBs are cheating into the soft spot, or the guy in the flat or wide is totally open for an easier 1st down.

Quote from: J5V on July 20, 2026, 02:20:42 AMI may be wrong but I don't think Lewis caught that ball. On replay it looked like it was on the ground.

Quote from: BomberFan73 on July 20, 2026, 02:22:59 AMya we all said the same, but needed a diff replay angle

Yup, that was a trap using the ground, but just barely.  And because there is no ground-level cam behind the deadball line, no way you overturn that.  It couldn't be proven either way, so ruling on the field must stand.

Quote from: BomberFan73 on July 20, 2026, 02:19:06 AMCan i just say that those OT rules suck?

I'm with Goldie.  I like it.  Ties are irksome.  The 1 doesn't usually help you come the end of the season.

And it'll be great fun when it takes like 10 tries before they get a winner.  It'll start looking like a 12 inning MLB game.

Too bad we didn't get to see an example of fail-fail to force another.  I think that would be more amusing, 10 rounds of fail-fail then someone finally scores.

Quote from: Blue In BC on July 20, 2026, 02:27:55 AMYeah that is just a technique issue to learn from. It wasn't intentional at all IMO.

I don't think he wanted to hurt anyone, but he looked genuinely perplexed that he got flagged.  I wonder if this is a USA thing (he is a rookie)... does the NFL allow that kind of sack?

Quote from: GOLDMEMBER on July 20, 2026, 02:09:50 AMSuitor has no idea on the rules.

To be fair, NO ONE has any idea on the shootout rules.  We only found out how this works RIGHT NOW.  It's hard to know the rules when the league hasn't publicly published the updated 2026 rule book yet!

We didn't previously know:

a) Do both teams get a turn (answer: yes)
b) Does the O/D order change every other shootout (answer: yes)

Point (b) seemed to really throw everyone off.  Even Major seemed to not be sure.  I think command had to tell them.

Quote from: dd on July 20, 2026, 02:07:18 AMGet catch Tommy!!! The pass hit you right in the hands!!! That's the bal game if you catch it. That's 2 massive gaffs by you that cost us 14 points. Totally.... Over.....rated!!

Ya, when you can win the game and the ball is right in your hands, and eminently catchable, then you catch that ball.  Zero excuse on that one.  And not only does he whiff, but he does it in a way that tips the ball up for an INT.

I think we spent huge NAT bucks on Nield, like he was a Brissett or Mital or KSB or Gittens.  When in reality he might be JFG -- just another $100k NAT REC.  He might be the REC equivalent of Dolegala -- "Ya, but have you seen how tall he is?!"

One would think that the Greenies were still paying him to sabotage our W/L record the way he played tonight.
