Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: dd on July 10, 2026, 05:42:12 PMI d like to see us roll Dru out on play action to buy a little more time and make some plays off the edge. Brown is alot younger, faster and more athletic than Collaros, use those attributes, don't just have him drop back and get killed.

If memory serves, Dru has been seriously injured executing those rollouts near the sidelines, getting run over upon release of the ball.  That's also a play that Zach regularly gets planted on, not sure it should be in his playbook anymore.

Quote from: Jesse on July 10, 2026, 05:03:45 PMWhat is risky about putting Elgersma on the RR? He's a raw rookie out of USports. That's exactly where he should be this year.
That would be my preference. But if he's on our PR, he's available to be picked up...
He probably wouldn't be picked up, but there's a chance. He's our best shot at a future star QB we've had in a while. I want them to take it slow and develop him properly. Maybe he thinks he can find a better spot as a back up on another roster.

We might look to protect him more especially with Zach out.  Good counter point.  A wee bit of roll out might be ok.  Sling from the pocket will work if OL holds.

He shouldn't be getting run over if he's released the ball, that s RTP all day, not that it prevents an injury. I get what you're saying, what I m saying is we have a guy who has some escapability, lets use it and not call for him to be a sitting duck every play.

Was it Kramdi who hit Brown in the head two seasons ago?

Is this the bad place?

Well, you're in luck, because the reserve roster (RR) is not the practice roster (pr) and he can't be picked up by another team.
My wife is amazing!

Dru Brown wore #18 in 2021, #6 in 2022-2023 & he'll wear #4 tonight. That will make him the 4th Blue Bombers QB to wear 3 different numbers as a Blue Bomber (in the CFL era).

Who are the other 3 QBs?

Hint 1: the other 3 all have a number in common

Hint 2: Two are reitred but are still active in the CFL. The 3rd QB is deceased.

Thank you! That was a pretty greasy move by Kramdi.

Bombers have to watch out for Kevin Mital, among the secondary he's a bruiser that's hard to bring down, wish the Bombers would give MCI a chance to do the same.  I've been super impressed with a few returns the last few games, he's big and he's fast.

Dru Brown has an opportunity take over this team. Having a good game tonight is step 1. Doesn't have to win, but he needs to add some notable gas to the passing attack. This isn't Ottawa Dru, this a real team. Take it!

Quote from: LXTSN on July 10, 2026, 02:37:23 PMWhat happens when Zach is healthy next week or the week after? I'm sure they will have Zach in the starting lineup again. But who will head to the PR?
Elgersma? He is a valuable asset and deemed the QB of the future for us. It's too risky.
Perkins? He has been elite at QB sneaks, even breaking a few into longer runs. We need him.
Brown? If Zach gets hurt, he is easily the next best QB on the roster.

Elgs to RR, as others said.

Perkins is STILL 100%, and since his job became in danger he's upped his game every single game.  His sneaks vs TOR were a thing of beauty, and he's doing things I'm not sure I've seen before.

Watch how quick he switches to his 2nd effort mode when he feels he's being stopped.  He's worked out a way to shift a bit, with no panic, as a kind of part of his normal sneak motion.  It's like as he's going on his first attack he's already thinking of his second, and even if he doesn't need it he goes for it.

I know, I know, many SY QBs put in a 2nd effort, but it's usually not all one motion, and they usually hunt for it after they get stuffed, when there's already crashers making redirection impossible.

Remember, I love me some SY!  Perkins might be the best natural SY QB I've ever seen.  To start off so good with zero prior CFL "1 yard neutral zone" experience is quite something.  If he keeps this up he'll eclipse the Great Feve.

With Perkins getting 100%, clearly valuing and perfecting his craft rather than pouting he's "just a SY QB", I have no idea how you'd PR him and move your future heir apparent into that role.  Having Elgs master SY doesn't do anything to help him master what we really need out of him, and might detract.

Quote from: Blueforlife on July 10, 2026, 05:04:52 PMDoesn't get as many reps for development

Elgs can get just as many reps in practice as the other non-#1's while on the RR.  The only reps he'll miss out on is in-game reps in relief -- but those would be impossible anyhow.  Why?  Because both Zach & Dru would need to get game-ended first.  And in 10 years I can't remember a time that happened to WPG.

Yes, Elgs becomes our "4th"... but a "protected 4th" because he's not on the PR, but on the RR.

Retired as QB's I guess you mean.  I'll take a stab:

Buck & McManus?  Decease: I'll take a wild flyer on Ploen.  I know very little of the history, so these are almost certainly incorrect.  But no one else tried yet... What's it that Gretzky always said?  ;)
