Beat me to it  ;D  ;D

I'll accept the jab, though, because I think the exact same about "sissy" soccer players  :D  :D

But ya, some corners have F1 drivers' heads trying to fly off their shoulders at 4-5G, and some for 3 to 8 seconds at a time.  5-15 times a lap.  50-70 laps a race.

I promise you that if Zach trained to withstand that, he'd be a lot less prone to neck issues.

I wonder... did Zach ask to be put on the 6G saying "I can't do this anymore guys"?

Quote from: Slingin Sammy on July 19, 2026, 11:57:25 AMIs this all related to the neck injury he suffered a few years ago against Edmonton when Dru came in, posted a comeback and led us to victory?

It's concerning that the hit he experienced after Stubblefields tackle against Hamilton resulted in such serious concern for his health and safety.

The hit against Edmonton a few years back was a lot more egregious.  I think the D Lineman ( I want to say Ealy) made contact while Zach was falling down or on the ground after throwing a pick (pick 6?).

In any event, if the small amount of contact Zach sustained against Hamilton re aggravates an old injury,  he should be concerned about quality of life and start transitioning into his post football career.

I think he's had many injuries over the course of a long career and there's no pinpointing an origin point. These things are cumulative.

It's genuinely a real shame that this is the way Zach's (potentially) last season is going to go. It's yet another gut punch to fans about the lost Grey Cups and the way we treated our home Grey Cup season.

Not the way this run should have ended.

If this is the end, it's fine. Compare with BLM. Zach has gotten to the cup more times in recent years than BLM could have ever dreamed of. If bo is over, and you don't consider his last few years a failure, then how could you say Zach's is one?

No one knows the future. You di the best you can with what your given and the time you have. I'm satisfied Zach did that.

Zach will be back for the LDC!!!

A comment on Facebook suggests he's willing to take a pay cut in order to help build a longer term roster etc etc.

Can't always believe stuff on FB but an interesting thought nevertheless.

Not disputing that, I'm a long term fan of the sport and take note the neck training component has only been introduced within the last 20 years as a part of the drivers fitness regime. But unless they've been in hundreds of accidents they haven't suffered near as many impact events were bones collide with bones, chipping and grinding them down and twisting the supporting ligaments until the elasticity has been stressed beyond functionality. The neck is extremely vulnerable because  the bone structure is smaller and lighter than the vertebrae in the rest of the spine, designed to accommodate movement and flexibility.

Could be the case but I've never heard of a retired driver complain about the toll the physical nature of the sport took on their health, Jackie Stewart is still going strong at 87.

I doubt Zach would even discuss that topic publicly.  Unless he wants to continue as a backup next year taking a pay cut won't change anything, if he can't reliably preform he'll no longer be considered a starter.  Big issue if Zach comes back again next year and Walters has to pay Brown his full wage, although 9th in top QB salaries he's still earning more than every other player but Zach on the team. Possibility if he does well this year he may demand over $400k next season.

9) Dru Brown, Ottawa Redblacks (A)

Hard money: $321,000
Maximum value: $387,000

Browns's 2026 compensation comes from a $150,000 signing bonus, $131,000 base salary, $15,000 in marketing money, $15,000 in housing, and a $10,000 travel allowance. He has an additional $66,000 available in playtime, statistical, all-star and award incentives.

That thought doesn't even make sense. We're midseason.

Fajardo his career the last three years has been dink amd dunk. After a few of those he throws a mid to long term ball. They have it figured out.

It's been a great season to watch the games evolve. Game plans start and then change during the game.

Congratulations to the kid playing QB in Hamilton - Ford. He may have just bought himself a career.  He played really well. They should have lost, but still he did what he had to do.  They ran him just enough. They better get a running game though.

BLM will be back once the leg heals. Probably next year.

BLM was on borrowed time before the injury.  Coming back after this is almost impossible.  Not just the extent of the injury, but what it takes to rehab.

If HAM plans for a future that includes BLM, they are negligent.  Happy circumstance if it happens, but serious long shot.

Have to see what Frost brings.  If Ford struggles, he'll be next up.

How about Lauda, he sure made his health issues public. Or Hakkinen Hakkinen his brake dust lung issues.

Most drivers are too proud to complain even if there was something wrong. And I think the F1 media money machine is loathe to protect anything negative.
