Quote from: Blue In BC on July 01, 2026, 07:58:01 PMFriday is a practice day. Saturday is a travel day. So no chance he's going to the wedding.

He already said he's going in one of the TSN pre-games.  Kate (or one of the other ladies?) sat down with Zach for an entire segment and the main talking point was the Taytay wedding.  There was zero question whether he'd go.

They spent half the segment talking about what present to buy the couple, and they called up someone's friend who works for some shoe(?) company.

It was actually quite absurd, although I do appreciate how a big part of football is "entertainment".

You guys don't watch the pre-games?

Quote from: RebusRankin on July 01, 2026, 06:35:13 PMDaniels isn't ready to be a contributor right now. Using him and guys like Cobb and Corcoran is essentially playing 11 on 12.

He's already a contributor and actually looks like the best weapon we have on O right now.  He's the only guy doing things the D's haven't 100% accounted for.  They are in everyone's pocket and stuffing every run -- except Daniels who they didn't think would do anything.

I want MORE Daniels.  Just coach it into him that you hug the ball with 2 hands at all times when a D guy is anywhere nearby.  I think he'll learn: he looked like a puppy that pooped the carpet right after his fumble when MOS was approaching him.  Check it out... I've never seen that level of obeisance from a player before.  Shame is a strong teacher.  And I'm not dissing the guy, these are all good traits in this context.

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on July 01, 2026, 06:05:09 PMI don't think Zach would dare ask O'Shea to be excused to go party heading into such an important game.

Hmm... did MOS get in the Jul 1 practice in order to help Zach make the wedding?

Or, maybe Kelcey is sending Zach one of his private jets to fly him out for the evening right after practice.  Easily doable.  Fly him back (tipsy!) the same night, or next morning and straight to HAM.

It sounds like Zach is a top-5 or even top-3 friend of Kelcey, and loaning a jet is means nothing to that couple.  Entirely possible.

Quote from: dd on July 01, 2026, 05:13:20 PMIf I was Collaros I'd go, it is going to be an epic event, and as for us playing Hamilton, we haven't got a prayer man of beating those guys with our soft secondary. They will score 40 no problem, we won't score 25.

While 100% true, and there is no hope to win short of miracle screwups by HAM, it is bad optics, and bad for team morale... for any player to flit around like that -- but DOUBLY worse when it's your #1 QB.

That said, my money is on him going.

Quote from: dd on July 01, 2026, 05:02:34 PMI am all for the TE formation, our pass pro would be so much better, and really, if the #5 spot is wasted, help out blocking on the line.

Except it's not.  Every time we went jumbo or TE or max pro EDM just brought that many more.  I don't think the outcome changed even one bit whether we had 5 protectors/blockers or 7.  Why?  Because 1+ guys would always screw up and get beat.

So I would think Daniels as more of a weapon who has the bonus of providing extra protection -- not the other way around.

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on July 01, 2026, 04:47:03 PMDo a head count, the Cobb/Corcoran spot is actually the Cobb/Corcoran/MCI/Daniels/Clercius spot.

True, but when we're talking 5 REC out, which is probably 35% of the snaps, it is the "2 C's" spot.  And it's not producing.  Not to the level SSK's 5th REC spot does... or EDM's.  Or HAM's... or...

Zach doesn't trust them, and half the snaps they are in he doesn't even look at them and will never throw to them even when they are 100% wide open for a first down... like the late stages vs EDM.

Quote from: Blue In BC on July 01, 2026, 03:00:18 PMI doubt Collaros gets time off for the Kelce wedding. Neufeld was off for to support his wife having twins, so not exactly the same kind of comparison.

Ya, I didn't know the Neuf reason at the time.  He can have a pass on his babies.  Nothing beats babies!

BUT... if Neuf was in vs EDM, and our pass pro was more like game 1 & 2 (which had good pass pro), do we win that final drive and the game??  Something to contemplate.  As good as his intentions, it has real costs.  There's only 18 games.  Each important guy takes a personal day, that's 18 potential losses.  (There's always the option to get busy early-season and have the births in the off-season!!)

That's a Zach issue, he picks favourites and sticks with them, notice how the top QB's in the league don't do that, they throw to anyone that is open.

And defenses know that. Key on Demski and Wilson, and give up the check down to Nield or Daniels, and that's what they're doing.

Our 4 top receivers and Brady all have between 14-20 targets. Who is his favourite?

If Collaros goes to the wedding and misses the walk through, I'm going to be very disappointed in him whether we win or lose.

It's one practice for a lifetime of memories.

I would want Zach to go as I wouldnt want him moping around over the fact he missed out attending.

Besides, if Zach does go Im sure he'd still be in contact with Tommy and the QBs over zoom or whatever.

Not acceptable. The team is 1 - 2. It's a friends wedding, not family.

So hypothetically, how do we feel if Zach goes to the wedding Friday, plays Sunday and puts up a stinker?
