We needed to play more Smith because of the OL change. I like him  much better than Kyrie anyway.

Agreed. Bombers are looking at a bit of a youth movement at a few different places all of a sudden. O'Shea loves his vets but we need to be more aggressive in pruning the weeds to keep the lawn green.

I think Kramdi as a SAM, helping direct traffic down low is where he excels.  Trying to turn him into a FS traffic cop was a nice experiment, but it is time to end that crap.  He may have the mental tools to do that job, but he certainly lacks the physical tools to get where he needs to be.  Its a lot easier with 1/3 of the width to cover than the full width.  I like his jump, he is fast to react and accelerate, but his top speed is lacking.

If you're saying he doesn't have the foot speed to play safety he definitely doesn't have it to play SAM. You need to be able to cover the full route tree as a SAM from the middle of the field which basically guarantees you have no sideline help. Depends on the coverage but a lot of times it's going to result in a one on one look. Maybe why he's not there anymore?

I vow the day will come once they find their next set of competent HB's they will move Holm to Safety to prolong his career.  This could only come after Smith, Shay and Schmeck have established their roles as rotational starters, so could still be 2-3 years off.

Quote from: Sir Blue and Gold on July 06, 2026, 11:37:52 PMFor the love of football I have no idea why Kramdi gets so much good press around here. He's horribly overrated and overstated. He plays small. He isn't a great tackler. He hasn't even been great in one on one coverage this year which was his calling card. If it wasn't for the ratio and the fact that we don't have many options at safety I think he'd be relegated to specials. Ya, I know: he punched the ball out last game. Still not impressed. Even Jake Kelly might be passing him in terms of every down usefulness.
Overstated on the negative. You have forgotten or failing to remember his many years as a reliable LB for us.  Not in the best position to succeed now but if he is to be our safety for the season he needs more time to settle in imo.  I personally would bring in a S if there is one available with CFL experience that is > Kramdi.  For the love of football I have no idea why you rag on him so much.  The ratio is part of the Canadian game, talking about it like you do brings no merit to your position on the matter imo.  We know how you feel about it.  It's here to stay.  Canadians get a chance to play in this great league.  Canadian depth players are the back bone of every club.  Kramdi >>> Kelly imo.  I like Kramdi and his stock is stable, I don't mind Kelly but he is like a penny stock at the moment.  One good game doesn't make him a more valuable every down player.  In a year or two he might be.

Pete

The biggest issue with Kramdl is he is way overpaid. Smith is a younger better option. Kramdl is a good rotational lb but hes not a safety and in recent years we've missed out on drafting everal good options at safety such as Finley and. Beauchevin

Kramdi would get snapped up pretty fast if we let him go. Plus, that would give the buyer the complete Younger book and paradigm because no d knows it better than Kramdi.

He probably would even get that high salary. I could see Ottawa highly interested.

I wouldn't let him go but Pete is right here. He's a good rotational piece, quality depth and is probably useful on special teams.

I just think he's an overvalued piece. The results have been pretty mixed over the last couple years and he hasn't exactly leapt off the page this year and isn't playing SAM anymore because he didn't last year either.

There's nothing wrong with him but he's also probably not a starter on about half the defenses in the league, maybe more.

Put it to you this way: if he gets beat out at safety this year or next, which seems very plausible at this point, in not sure where you put him on the defense. Not a good sign for the player.

The obvious solution is to make a poll using really nebulous and leading choices.

Undoubtedly Kramdi is more effective at SAM.  Hopefully the Bombers have a comfort level that will see him play there and that there is a candidate, in waiting, to occupy the safety position.

Like SirBnG hints at, no reason he can't become STer who rotates in at SAM or for special sets.  It could even be like half the snaps.

But... the problem then remains: who is the QB of the D when he's not on field.  That's why he kind of retains his every down usage -- just like Biggie & BA37 were mostly every down.  It's a conundrum for sure.

But he may still get the benefit of much more live FS dev time.  Is 4 games enough to really see what he can do?  In most situations one would say "no".  The only way you yank his leash this early is if you see impediments that cannot be changed (like speed).  But if that's the case, shouldn't Mafia have foreseen it?  Again, Mafia isn't stupid.  Doesn't make sense.

Also, FS can be a weaker player and the D still function.  Historically that's where you parked your worst NAT (along with 5th REC).  Let's ask ourselves, is Kramdi worse than Hecht?  (my answer: no)

A lot will be answered when Allen gets off 6GIR.  If I'm betting, I think Kramdi is our FS for most of the season and we re-evaulate the FS, ratio, and "QB of the D" issue in the off-season.

We may have to pick another punching bag for the next couple of months.  How about one of the DL, or the 5th REC?

Some good points here. Some folks need a punching bag 🎒.

My polls always have good response rates and plenty of discussions.  I have edited response options in the past based on suggestions from others.  Like my posts, don't like em, don't look or reply.  Your response shows you have little to provide to the debate other than an unneeded personal shot.  A poll on the value of Kelly vs Kramdi's current value as an every down player is not required.  It's not even close (at the moment imo).  I think both will continue to be valuable members of this club, but Kelly has much to prove but has recently flashed his upside.  Kramdi is a proven commodity.

Hecht had two or three good games and somehow had people convinced he was a legit starter...he wasn't.  Holm should be the safety in an ideal world and Kramdi is a rotational LB.
