Did no one read my comment on the other thread?  Collaros in the TSN segment with Kate last game said HE WAS GOING.  And Kate was hooking him up with wedding presents.  They wouldn't have that whole segment and Zach wouldn't say those things if he didn't already have leave.

I get it, I more mean the general expectation for a football player is that these things have to be scheduled around their football schedule.

thr fact that in the three games that 3 different guys led in targets in fact indicates that Zac isnt paying favorites, when you have 4 good targets of course the fifth isnt going to see the ball much.

I never said he has season-long favorites, or even favorites going into a game.  What he does is ID the hothand (whoever is having a good night) early, and that becomes his favorite for the rest of the night, come heck or high water.

And heaven help you if you screw up early (like Cobb does at times), because then you can be wide open for a game-winner and he still won't throw to you -- he probably thinks you'll just drop it.  He may not be wrong.

He's been like this since around the time Woli left.

I don't like criticizing players, I'm sure he's doing the best he can, but

I suspect he's too physically weak, and small, to wrap up and tackle the most effective way. So he resorts to diving at the ball carrier.

He had some very effective tackles.  I saw one attempted dive, which he slowed the ball carrier down with who was immediately tackeld.  But other than that, he wrapped up much better than I expected, and made a number of very good plays, where I had to rewind and confirm it was 16...

Kelly actually looked good, he's faster than Kramdi and maybe better in pass coverage.  His work on ST shows he can be a hard hitting tackler, in time he could be the Natl. Safety they're looking for.

Not sure I'd go that far, but he definitely is improving.  If nothing other than a passing down sub in and a ST, he will earn his keep.

If he does improve past that, bonus.

I think Kramdi's limitations are being exposed, he's not as physical or as fast as players he's competing with for the same positions, his knowledge of the game is the asset that's earned his salary and status.  With Smith coming on and possibly Shay I could see them shopping him for other assets in the off-season.

For the love of football I have no idea why Kramdi gets so much good press around here. He's horribly overrated and overstated. He plays small. He isn't a great tackler. He hasn't even been great in one on one coverage this year which was his calling card. If it wasn't for the ratio and the fact that we don't have many options at safety I think he'd be relegated to specials. Ya, I know: he punched the ball out last game. Still not impressed. Even Jake Kelly might be passing him in terms of every down usefulness.

Anyone listening to coach's show?  Susan just took Osh to task on the O-line. 

Osh did his usual Dr. Hibbert patronizing laugh and tried to make a joke/deflection that he'd call Walby to see if he is available, but Susan stuck to her points that there's poor protection for the qb's and Osh didn't have much more to say about it.

I thought Kramdi was a very good SAM for a NAT.  Yes, "for a NAT" isn't high praise.  But it's the CFL.  And clearly he directs everything out there.

But Griffin has been a decent upgrade at SAM.  Not earth-shattering.  Not Leggett level.  But good enough he likely keeps that spot.

I think Kramdi's slow speed is the main problem at FS.  He can't rove like Dequoy.  He has to be more in zone or more "getting in the way" than speeding to the air ball.  He does seem to help somewhat coming up to the box in support, though -- but that's more like his SAM job than a true FS job.

He also might still be learning the ropes & tricks & tells though.  It's only 4 games in.  He may get better at it later in the season, even if we haven't seen it yet.  We were more patient with Allen when he didn't do much for half a season!

Kyrie was almost never out there last game, so that means Kramdi will NOT be taken off the field as the QB of the D.  If we really really hate him at FS, he could always go back to SAM, and Griffin to DI.

Smith got a TON of reps, and we may be testing new things, or showing a glimpse of what we really are planning.  Smith would also give us ratio help... though I'm not sure if he's capable of being groomed into the next "QB of the D".

Kelly's best game ever was this game.  The one time he bumped rather than tackled, the carrier fell OOB.  So that's a win in my books.  The only time I saw him whiff was when he was holding a kick returner's foot for about 3 seconds.  That actually should be a win as well, because where in the bleep was the rest of the team/waves coming to smash the motionless returner!?

If a ST gunner is holding up a returner in any way, shape or form, that's a total win for the gunner.  Most of the time they are there just to redirect the returner into the funnel of death.

Kelly had 3.5 impactful plays/assists this game.  Usually he has precisely zero.  He had 0 impactful mistakes this game.  Normally he has 1 or many.

If he finally turned the corner, this dude might become something.  Or he might revert to Bad Kelly.  Who knows.  But let's all praise his improvement, and pray for more.  He was the Roc Carmicheal / Sam Hurl punching bag around here for many, many games this last 1.5 seasons.

Started to notice Kyrie in the second half and he played well IMO, swear he was sat out the entire first half.  Smith looked good even in pass coverage, he stayed with his man but may have received a PI penalty for being too physical. He's built thickly, can easily mistake him for Griffin, neither is well suited for chasing fleet receivers.

It was a weird night for D sets.  Didn't really see Ayers.  Saw a whackton of Smith.  Lots of Kelly.  No Shay (no surprise).  Little Kyrie.

Ayers is a big surprise, as he saw a lot of action vs EDM.  But maybe he's more the run-threat guy and against BLM we needed a pass-threat guy.

Griffin/Smith: I don't know if I'd write them off on following a faster REC from SAM... Griffin's made it to weird places and looked quite fast doing it.  The tell would be if we leave Griffin isolated on a fast slot in man, cover-1 or cover-0.  Not sure we've done that yet.  But it's nice (or critical?) if a SAM can do that?
