I won't argue about Alexander - the best QB in the league (if legs hold up).  But Maier threw a couple of short/mid darts that were 2X the speed Zach can do.  That one walk-in TD and the White TD later only worked because he threw it 100mph.  Zach can't zip those and so DBs can close and disrupt or INT.

So whatever Maier's failings, short/mid-range arm strength is not lacking.

As for Zach, we need workarounds for the lack of speed or we're not going to win much of anything.

I think the major thing for Maier is a lack of confidence but both Maier and Zach take that extra second or two to try and read the field and that's what gets them in trouble when a blitz is coming.  Zach automatically shuffles back 2-3 steps on receiving the snap to get more clearance and a better view, it would be quicker to stand back further and retrain the Center so he can throw immediately once the ball hits his hands, like BLM and Harris often do.

Neither Maier nor Zach have the greatest mobility, if the play does not call for a roll out they often get trapped in the pocket with poor ability to escape.

I would add to that at least Maier throws the ball away vs take the 15 yard sack. Collaros has got to stop eating the ball for a 15 yard loss. Matt Nichol was the master at that

I didn't check for yards, but Zach and Maier have taken the same number of sacks so far this year, fyi.

The free TD a kick return TD provides usually wins you the game.  I think all but one team that got a free TD won their game.  It's like a freebie points cheat code.

Or, taken another way, if we had bad ST like a couple of teams have, how many more games would we LOSE if we gave up some ST TDs?  It's hard enough to keep up with opponents as it is.

Yes, you also need a good O & D... not saying you can just get ST TDs!  But I think some HCs/GMs neglect the 3rd phase somewhat.  I'm not sure we ever have (in Mafia times).
