Jaylon Hutchings returns for Calgary Stampeders versus Riders
by 3Down Staff  June 19, 2026

The Calgary Stampeders will have star defensive tackle Jaylon Hutchings back in the lineup when they face the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday.

Hutchings signed a three-year contract with the team ahead of the season, rejoining the squad on which he was named All-CFL in 2025. The six-foot, 304-pound defender signed with the Minnesota Vikings in January but was waived in April with an injury designation. He remained a free agent until he signed back with the Stampeders.

The 26-year-old recorded 39 defensive tackles, eight sacks, and one forced fumble over 17 regular-season CFL games in 2025, his first season as a starter with the Stamps. He was the top-graded defensive player in the league, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).

Hutchings will jump in front of Charles Wiley on the depth chart, while backup defensive tackle Elijah Hills has been placed on the six-game injured list with a hamstring issue. Defensive end Folarin Orimolade, whose return from a torn Achilles has also been hotly anticipated, will remain on the one-game injured list for another week.

The only other change for the Stampeders is a depth move, as linebacker R.J. Moten (hamstring) has been placed on the six-game injured list. Morce Blackwell II will replace him after recovering from a foot injury.

The Calgary Stampeders (0-1) will host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-0) at McMahon Stadium on Saturday, June 20, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Roughriders are coming off a come-from-behind win over the B.C. Lions, while the Stampeders spent Week 2 on bye.

The weather forecast in Calgary calls for a high of 15 degrees and a 70 percent chance of showers. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 620 CKRM in Regina or 770 CHQR in Calgary.

Saskatchewan Roughriders insert two new secondary starters against Stampeders
by 3Down Staff   June 19, 2026

The Saskatchewan Roughriders will have a distinctly different look in the secondary when they face the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday.

Star halfback Rolan Milligan Jr. has officially been placed on the six-game injured list due to a shoulder issue, while safety Nelson Lokombo has been moved to the one-game injured list due to an ailing ankle. The team will also be without versatile backup Jayden Dalke due to a hand injury.

Newcomer Juju Hughes will debut in place of Milligan. The 27-year-old is a CFL rookie, but played 26 career games in the NFL, recording 26 tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack. Local product Jaxon Ford, now in his fourth season, will step in at safety, while the recently-acquired Jonathan Edouard will dress as insurance.

Saskatchewan will also have a major change on special teams, with long snapper Aaron Crawford (knee) going on the six-game injured list. Mike Benson, who signed mid-week, will step in for him.  Linebacker Nick Wiebe returns from injury to beef up the coverage teams.

Daniel Johnson returns from a shoulder injury to become the sixth offensive lineman. Erik Andersen, the reigning J.P. Metras Trophy winner, has been assigned to the practice roster as a result.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-0) will visit the Calgary Stampeders (0-1) at McMahon Stadium on Saturday, June 20, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Roughriders are coming off a come-from-behind win over the B.C. Lions, while the Stampeders spent Week 2 on bye.

Ya.  Especially with SSK losing Milligan (best DB), Lokombo, Dalke.  But Liver King, KSB, Kesean & Emilus are more than good enough to paste the CGY DBs.

CGY is the same as week 1, and their REC corps, frankly, looks awful on paper.  Even with a stacked D SSK is going to score on you and you have to keep up.  I don't see how they do it.

It will be fun to see how Mills fares against them, though.  As Brady is very much like Mills and our attack will be similar when we face SSK.
Never go full Johnston!

Hate them both.  Since there can't be a tie gotta pull for the Stamps as we play them 3 times this year and are one win away from having the tie-break from them.  Let's just hope both teams beat the living snot out of each other 60 minutes.

Saskatchewan's defence dominated that first half. Calagry is fortunate to still be in the game.

Enjoy the excitment of a missed field goal return while it lasts

How in the world did Sask get this good? Or is Calgary this bad?
Go Bombers!

I think Riders are the best team in the league currently based on what I've seen. They have done a good job drafting Canadian talent, and also scouting new American talent

When I see Andrew Harris standing on their sideline, I can't help thinking Sask. stole the Bombers crown and  it's going to take a long time to take it back.  They've followed the Bombers game plan to a tee.
