Hamilton Tiger-Cats sit Jamal Peters against B.C. Lions
by 3Down Staff  June 18, 2026

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will officially be without veteran defensive back Jamal Peters when they host the B.C. Lions on Friday night. The team issued its official depth chart on Thursday morning.

Hamilton listed Peters as questionable on their most recent injury report. He did not practice this week due to a head injury he suffered last week against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The reigning All-CFL cornerback was taken off on a stretcher but was cleared by medical staff relatively quickly. He has been placed on the one-game injured list.

Zamari Walton
will start for Peters at boundary cornerback. The 27-year-old made seven defensive tackles over two regular-season games last year, his first in the CFL. He spent Hamilton's first two games of 2026 on the practice roster.

The Tiger-Cats have also made a change at field-side cornerback, where Devodric Bynum will start this week. The 27-year-old played five regular-season games with the Edmonton Elks in 2025, recording 17 defensive tackles. In 2024, he made 23 defensive tackles, five interceptions, and one forced fumble.

Greg Junior, who started the first two games of the season at field-side cornerback, has been moved to the practice roster. He made nine defensive tackles and one special teams tackle over those two outings.

The Tiger-Cats have also promoted Kaleb Hayes from the practice roster. The six-foot, 194-pound defender will dress in a depth role behind Bynum.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-1) will host the B.C. Lions (0-1) at Hamilton Stadium on Friday, June 19 with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT. The Lions are coming off a last-minute loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a repeat of last year's West Final, while the Tiger-Cats are coming off a high-scoring win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The weather forecast in Hamilton calls for a high of 24 degrees with a 40 percent chance of showers. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 730 CKNW (English) or Sher-E-Punjab Radio AM 600 (Punjabi) in Vancouver or the Ticats Audio Network in Hamilton.

Keon Hatcher game-time decision for decimated B.C. Lions receiving corps
by 3Down Staff  June 18, 2026

The B.C. Lions have been decimated by injuries in their receiving corps ahead of Friday's matchup with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, though they won't know just how badly until kickoff.

Reigning CFL receiving yardage leader Keon Hatcher Sr. is listed as a game-time decision after he was unable to practice on Wednesday due to a thigh injury. The 31-year-old was a full participant on Tuesday, but has since been downgraded to questionable for Week 3.

Hatcher posted 1,688 receiving yards on a career-high 102 receptions with nine touchdowns in 2025. The native of Tulsa, Okla., has registered 309 receptions for 4,843 receiving yards over his six-year career, twice earning All-CFL honours.

The news comes after the Lions lost three starting receivers in their season opener. Stanley Berryhill III (thigh), Jevon Cottoy (thigh), and Seven McGee (foot) have all been placed on the six-game injured list and will be out for the foreseeable future.

Third-year Canadian receiver Kieran Poissant has been bumped into the starting lineup after being listed as the team's only backup pass catcher last week. Joining him on the first unit are rookie Canadian Nick Cenacle, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2026 CFL Draft, and American Jermaine Jackson, who was released following training camp but re-signed this week. The team has also activated rookie American Silas Bolden to handle McGee's return duties and provide depth.

Should Hatcher be unable to go, the team could elect to elevate rookie American Jaden Williams from the practice roster, the only other receiver under contract.

Defensively, the lineup remains unchanged, though Canadian defensive back Patrice Rene is listed as a game-time decision due to a leg injury which limited him on Wednesday.

The B.C. Lions (0-1) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-1) at Hamilton Stadium on Friday, June 19, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT. The Lions are coming off a last-minute loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a repeat of last year's West Final, while the Tiger-Cats are coming off a high-scoring win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

With no BB game this week I find myself lacking much interest in the CFL this week. You?

I still want to see the games, but it's definitely killed a little of my buzz.

I'm definitely watching way more World Cup than I have in prior tournaments. It's awesome.

I've always enjoyed it but as I'm getting older like it more and more for some reason. Been to a few pro games helps also. I think I like it better than hockey, honestly. Not sure why.

Because you can nod off for 40 minutes and not miss a single thing?

Another 0 - 1 game, yay!

I like the byes because I can focus on fantasy/games a little more without getting clouded with as much emotion.  Also slows down the forum a lot, so I can catch up.

A week-3 bye does feel a little strange, though.

lions are in trouble at receiver - this will be a test for them and backups.  hamilton secondary didn't look very good against us

dd

loosing berryhill and cottoy is going to hurt and if Hatcher joins them, that's alot of playmakers out of the lineup/they're toast

That happens when I watch Marvel movies with my boys and it doesn't bother me at all, I don't even try to follow the plot.
