That's good to know, but was Smith on the injury reports this week?
My wife is amazing!

Just checked and we actually have 9 players on the 6 game IR!!!. Nobody is listed on the reserve this week. It's just another what the heck decision by the league.

Suspect he was concussed, apparently practiced this week but they're holding him out of the game.

No 1 game IR, they could be messing around with a loophole they've found.

Smith is on the 1 game IR.

The problems with the 6 game IR is that players can't practice until week 5 IIRC. Then it may still requite being transferred to 1 game IR for another couple of weeks getting into game shape.

Not adding players to the reserve saves SMS. Losing those that we have to the 6 game IR might have been where a couple of them were stashed on the reserve. We barely have a PR list now.

Time for KW to hit the phones.  Couch-sitters here we come.  I'm sure he's already on it.
Never go full Johnston!

From O'Shea's interview today it sounds like putting some of these players on the 6-game was a precautionary move, he must be thinking he'll pull some of them off early if they're ready to go.  Don't really think there is a penalty for doing so except for having to pay their salary as if they were on the 1 game for a couple of games.

Maybe they've finally learned.  There is no reason to 1G anyone, except if he's good enough to practice and you want him to practice.  Other than that everyone should go 6G always.

I can't disagree with that idea in theory. If they can't practice then yes for 6 game IR. Once they can practice move them to the 1 game IR until they can play.

The only downside is it's easier to budget when you know a player is on the 1 game rather than then shifting them later.

We've done the opposite in the past and let players sit on the 1 game IR for an extended period before moving them to the 6 game IR.

OShea ALWAYS has a overly optimistic view at least to. The public, (is, he related to Blueforlife?}
A guy could of just broke his leg and he'll tell the media, hes not ruling him out for next game

Quote from: Freebird on June 10, 2026, 04:45:53 PMWoodbey was reportedly "walking unencumbered" at Monday's practice so the injury extent wasn't as obvious as Dixon's.  I'm guessing they needed further evaluation to make the determination.

That sounds way better than the initial fear of season-ending ligament or achilles damage.

If they can't practice because of injury, no reason to not be on the 6 game.

As they heal, and are ready to practice, they can then move to the one game.  Or if they are in game 5 or 6, they can practice and remain on the 6 game, pending decision on whether to activate them or put them back on the 6 game.

But it is a waste to have them sitting on the 1 game paying $SMS and not practicing.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

O'Shea hinted they have miscalculated in the past, noting they don't get a reset if a player is moved from a couple of weeks on the 1 game to the 6 game.  Looks like a measure of efficiency to put everyone on the 6 game asap so the count down begins right away.

It's not very clear who might be healthy anytime soon, based on the new strategy. Getting Ball and Schmekel back might be an upgrade. Ball was having a good TC and must be a better choice than Kelly. Getting Schmekel back could help flip our DL ratio and add more experience. It would also let us add Texada as a DI instead of a DL.

We'll see if anyone recovers while were on our bye. In some cases ( Ball ) that will be at least 4 weeks since practising.

How much was Woodbey missed last night? I'm honestly not sure any more than knowing when he might be back. Having him back would improve some coverage issues.

Aside from that, there is nobody on our PR that I see as helpful on defence where we need it most.

I think Woodbey helps stop the run but he's not much better in pass coverage, Kyrie is another guy getting his chain jerked all over the field, might be a better idea to let these guys settle in one position and focus on doing their jobs.  Too much multi-tasking going on.
