@OTT games still are much darker than every other stadium's games (on TV).  The 200-level camera shots (most of the game) are so dark.  Makes it so difficult and dreary to watch.  Harder to see the ball, too (dark on dark).  I keep hoping the CFL will solve this, but they never do.

And I still don't know if it's the turf, the lights, or the cameras.  Maybe one day I'll get to that stadium and try to figure it out.

3Q5:26 timecount on a Lauther FG, which forces OTT to punt instead.

According to the TSN playclock, the ball was snapped 0.06 seconds after it hit 00.  99% of the time the refs let this slide (often up to half a second).  Yes, 6 ONE HUNDREDTHS of a second.

Yada yada TSN playclock isn't reliable yada yada.  But that's all I have to work with.  AND it's even worse this year as I can't backup 20s to listen for the whistle in and time if from there!!  That's one downside to the 35s change.

Reinbold chirping, lol

P.S. Lauther's good kick would have been fine from 5Y back.  Should have FG'd again.  Dinwiddie in full "don't care if I win now -- it's a rebuild year" mode.

Yup.  Unintended consequences.  Did anyone bother to go back and read the minutes from the CFL meetings when they first instituted the rouge?  See what they were thinking?  Maybe they saw poop like this and the rouge was their solution to it!

There's going to be a ton of this "watch it roll for 5 minutes" stuff this season.

The single point was the means to encourage people to pick it up and make a play.

He jumped for no reason at all.  Use your freakin' hands.  The ball would have come in around his face.  Put your hands up and catch it.

Plus, Ford seems to have injured himself.

Does Eberhardt feel like he just transferred from heaven (BC) into hades (OTT)?  At least Gino made bank when he made that deal with the devil.

I think Dinwiddie needs to work from the ground up -- change the culture first.  Then start attracting better talent and better prices.  He needs to pull a 2012 MOS.

Then again, he took TOR from zero to hero in 2 seasons a few years back... which path will it require this time?  Will any team ever again give a HC 5+ years to win like WFC did MOS?

Final play of the game Cody chucks it BACKWARDS to Mack for an eventual 35Y loss.  Does that mean Mack gets -35 to his final YDS stat?  That might miff me if I had Mack in fantasy.

Not to mention -- you're up only 8 and you risk CHUCKING it BACKWARDS?  What if Mack whiffs??  The only guys going towards the ball are all wearing black, for a near-guaranteed scoop & score & possible tie game.  MOS watching this shaking his head.

Quote from: GOLDMEMBER on Today at 02:20:07 AMJust a disgusting showing for Ottawa.

And during FA, TC, and PS, media & even people here were hyping up OTT as "most improved" and a real East contender.  I didn't understand it then, definitely don't now.  OTT will have to be considered a project.

Also, does the CFL have another "QB Shortage" problem?  Maier and Cody probably shouldn't be starting.  Dru possibly no better.  And in 1-2 seasons Zach & Trevor will retire... it's going to get ugly if new blood doesn't step up.  I think Powell is the next one, but that will still leave 2-ish teams with garbage QB choices.

Seeing Reinbold on the sideline is comforting to me.... Kind of like an old sweater that you keep wearing even though it's worn out...

Dinwiddie has proven himself as a head coach.

Beat us with Nick Arbuckle.

And he's not sentimental about his players.

I think He'll get the team turned around.

Ottawa is a basement dweller until proven otherwise- same with Edmonton. But any improvement predictions were based on Dru Brown being healthy and taking a step under Dinwiddie who traditionally gets the most out of his QBs.

Meier isn't dragging Ottawa out of the depths.
My wife is amazing!

Ottawa is in trouble if they think maier is the answer.

Don't worry, your fantasy points are safe.

The CFL has a few statistics that are not used south of the border. One of those stats is Team Losses (Genius still struggles with this one). Some types of plays that fall into the Team Loss category are:

- QB Sacks
- Knees
- Blocked Kicks
- Fumbled Snaps

Team Losses are tagged to an individual but they do not affect a player's Yards From Scrimmage or All-Purpose Yards. The 37 yard loss by Mack on the final play was considered a Team Loss because he voluntarily gave himself up (i.e. treated as a knee)

In the NFL, losses on QB Sacks are subtracted from the team's passing stats but they do not affect the QB's passing stats. Yards lost on knees at the end of the game are subtracted from a QB's rushing stats. I have seen someone lose an NFL Fantasy matchup because a QB took a knee to end a Monday night game.

For some odd reason, the Fumbled Snap on the exchange between Pelehos & Duggan was entered as a rushing loss by Duggan with the fumble charged as part of the run. If that doesn't qualify as a Fumbled Snap then I don't know what does. You could argue that the fumble should be charged to Pelehos which means he would be tagged with the loss.

We are going to see this happen again.

In this situation, when you know the ball is going to roll out of bounds, I would instruct one of the coverage men to make a play at the ball.

Scenario 1
Player from kicking team (Team A) recovers the ball in the end zone. The officials will signal TD & throw a flag for No Yards. Team B cannot decline the penalty because it would be a TD. Their only choice is to accept the penalty. A No Yards penalty in the end zone is applied from the 15-yard line up 15 yards which puts the ball on the 30 with no point. He just saved his team 10 yards by committing a penalty.

Scenario 2

Player from Team A makes a play for the ball but the returner for Team B recovers it first (perhaps unsure if the Team A player is onside). The officials will give the signal for a single point and throw a flag for No Yards. Team B now has the option to accept the penalty as in Scenario 1 (no point, ball on 30) or decline the penalty which means the single point scores with the ball on the 40. The coverage man either saved his team 10 yards or scored a single for his team, all because he committed a penalty.

Not quite this scenario: In the pre-season there was a No Yards penalty in the end zone. Montreal had the choice of accept the penalty (no point, ball on 30) or decline the penalty (1 point, ball on 40). Maas chose to accept the penalty. A year or two ago, Mike O'Shea chose the other option (1 point, ball on 40). DT asked O'Shea if giving up that 1 point was worth 10 extra yards. Coach O'Shea said it was situational but in that case he believed it was better to take the field position.

Funny how that goes, change is relatively easy to make but if nobody in the room remembers why the rule was implemented in the first place they end up going back in the wrong direction.  Before next season I think we'll see punters get really good at keeping the ball out of the endzone.

Shorter field and shorter end zone, so it's a given they'll try.
