  • Saskatchewan linebacker Aubrey Miller Jr. has been fined for spearing Winnipeg wide receiver Tim White.
  • Edmonton linebacker Nick Anderson has been fined for spearing Calgary quarterback Vernon Adams Jr.

Good, so often it's these new players coming into the league trying to make a name for themselves that use their helmets as weapons, receivers need to receive the same protection as QB's.  I call for a penalty for the use of "excessive force" to eliminate plays like that.

As for Anderson he should have been suspended for 3 games. The one thing I like about hockey is a violator of the code, will 100% receive payback. In football the defence tees-off on the offence all game long and there's rarely a chance for payback. Maybe the Stamps D-line will take some shots at Fajardo, that game ended with some pent up anger.

Ya, no kidding. Pretty sure they knew this. Maybe just wanted to keep putting butts in seats with false hope.

Really too bad. They were probably gonna kick mtl butt.

Does BLM have another year in him?

Will Ottawa set a record for the most consecutive losses?   The Shreveport Pirates lost 14 consecutive games to start a season in 1994, while the 2026 Ottawa Redblacks, so far, have had a 12-game losing streak to open their campaign. Their best chance to avoid setting a new record comes over the next two games, both against Calgary, but they're not gimmes.

I think OTT wins very soon. Pirates didn't take CFL seriously. Dinwiddie sure as heck does. He wants to win like nobody's business. And he's soooo close. Should have had it last game, but their O had wpg-itis... Couldn't make that final drive.

Maybe during the back to back against Calgary, although I'd lean Hamilton.

  • Ottawa RedBlacks have named McLeod Bethel-Thompson as the starting QB for the game this weekend. AJ Jakubec was first to report that MBT was taking first team reps in practice.
  • per Dave Naylor - Three CFL players facing hearings stemming from the on-field altercation between Montreal Alouettes and BC Lions
    • MTL DB Don Callis
    • BC DB Josh Hagerty
    • BC DB Ronald Kent

I would suspect a number of additional fines to come from the MTL/BC game

Both Philpot and Snead received UR penalties on that play.

For sure they got flagged, but heck if you're fining other players for the melee that ensued, the guy that started it should get fined too. It was a totally cheap hit, waaay out of bounds on a player that had given himself up/let up on the play.

We now know why Josh Hagerty had a hearing. No place in football for those actions.

BC Lions should release him and the CFL should ban him for life.

I hope Liam Talbot recovers and that he can live a normal life.

Wow, that's just nuts insane.

If you purposefully do an action that ruins the jewels (or any other body part) then I think at least a suspension is warranted.  Let's say he's instead standing there and takes the guys arm and snaps the bone in half... that wouldn't be tolerated.  Neither should "invisible" injuries.

But, since this is new territory, likely only a 1-game?  I dunno, you could draw parallels to guys doing blatant head hits or Strev-crippling, and those were usually 2 or 3 games, right?

BC took "physical" too far, and this is probably what gave them the edge.  MTL players dropping like flies in that game.  Maybe now we should forgive some of Alexander's excessive chirpiness?

I would think a lifetime ban wouldn't fly with the PA, and not sure it's ever been done in modern times.  Best to just send a strong message and set precedent.  In that sense you might want to come down hard like they did on the Strev-Crippler.

I'm finding these things on the PVR so we can have timestamps: the 3down article has really lame camera-of-tv shots without timestamps -- leaked internal CFL all-24 film???  Easy to spot Haggerty, he's super tall and skinny and has that dumb long hair.

3Q3:50 Clear as day #27 on #30 on the live shot.  I think as he's falling down he takes another shot too, but misses!  Talbot goes stumbling off.  #30 tries to get a modicum revenge 3Q1:05 with some pushing down at the whistle -- not nearly enough payback!

4Q10:09 Guess who cripples Dedmon -- yup, #27 Haggerty.  Hmmmm.

I can't find the 2nd cited instance (yet).  It may not show up on the televised view.  It's hard to match up the 3down vids to the TSN shots -- and there were a LOT of kick/punt returns by MTL in this game (lots of BC TDs!).

I found another possible Haggerty violation on my PVR.  It's on #43 Green, not Talbot though.  It's at 3Q9:29.  There's a great 2 adjacent stills showing Haggerty's hand in the "groin" and then pulled back, while Haggerty is holding his shoulder.  Real dirty stuff.
