I am not paying extra to see a CFL game that doesn't involve the Bombers. I would watch baseball instead.

71% of the rabid fans say they won't pay for DAZN. I wonder what % of normal fans will... maybe 5%?

Unfortunately it will likely be Sask or WPG games that will be on DAZN, and for sure when they play each other.

But strangely enough, I kinda miss Blackie and I never thought Dunni should have been canned.  Let's make it a trifecta and have Jock Climie on the panel!

Great point.  Unless it's in the contract that the league/teams gets the ability to offer discounts for fans or STHs, then the only way it happens is if WM calls up DAZN and strikes a separate deal.  That would mean WFC foots the bill to subsidize discounts for us.

Now, since WFC is flush, that could happen.  But EDM or TOR might have a hard time justifying that, especially since they arguably have more TV viewers and thus more to subsidize (unless it's limited to STHs).

One would hope the league/DAZN contract did stipulate that CFL is on, say, their basic package.  We don't want to leave it open-ended where DAZN makes a Super Cereal package just to gouge CFL fans $100/mo!!

Ya, this poll is a real eye-opener.  In one day we have the bulk of regular members voting and the result is 25% will pay?

I don't know about you, but that's waaaaay less than I would have guessed.  My guess would have been 50/50 of uberfans.

If only 25% of uberfans will pay, kiss the casual fan goodbye.  You're right, at best probably 5% of those will pay.

Ouch!  I'm gonna head over to Riderfans to see what they are saying... strangely enough whether blue or green us uberfans tend to be on the same page when it comes to Dumb CFL Moves.

Counter intuitively it's probably higher. Don't confuse the opinions on here with the actual actions of the market. They are not the same.

Lots of folks won't complain at all, will just subscribe for a few months or retain their subscription for longer than they would have. They won't be loud about it and it won't be a big deal to them. DAZN obviously knows their business model and have done this before. They didn't just pick a random number to compensate the league. They control like half of the streaming sports market at this point.

This is true. Emotions are high right now and has little to do with what will happen a year from now. Especially if they do create a CFL package for a better price.

But I'm sure there are quite a few fans who already do own DAZN for the NFL. The dozen or so people who talk on an old message board aren't exactly representative of the hundreds of thousands who tune into games.

My wife is amazing!

Well, rider forum is sounding a lot like here. And they have around 5x the active forum members that we do. A lot more "normie" fans over there. Just like here, I'm a bit surprised by the handles that are saying they may be done. Long time hardcore posters.

One rider fan made a great point... Does this mean non Canadian fans can get every game cheaper than us? We have to pay for TSN cable plus dazn. But foreigners can get the whole season with one CFL steam subscription??

If that's correct, that's some messed up poop. Basically punishing us for being so loyal and Canadian.

No I won't pay for another subscription I already pay waaay to much per month.

I ve watched the cfl religiously since 1975 and you can count me in as one of the upset alienated long time fans. Don't like the new Ryle changes, don't like the new commissioner, he's a dweeb and out of his element. Just watched the pre season opening half of a quarter of the Ottawa and Montreal game, and ya it's pre season, but I turned it off as I ve never seen such poorly executed football. Ottawa s going with maier as their Qb, ha, they ll be the worst team in the league by a landslide, and you want me to pay extra to watch them on a Saturday? Guess I ll do so,thing else on a Saturday

So, Dazn is wrong. The league is wrong. The commissioner is wrong. Everyone is wrong... but you. The guy who doesn't go to more than a game a year anymore and won't watch if it's not on cable and won't miss it (all things you've recently said).

So we're clear.

You always use the infallibility argument. 'They' must know what they are doing, so anyone who doesn't agree is wrong. Then the ad hominem attack.

I go to 1 game a year. I won't buy a second service to watch 20% of the games. I'll get used to missing those games, which isn't the same as "I won't miss it at all." None of that has anything to do with the validity of my argument.

Folks who make the decisions love to tell us how great they are going to be, but almost never show the actual numbers after the fact. Makes the look more infallible than they really are, so I doubt we ever get the actual data on how many net new DAZN subscriptions sell, unless they have a CFL-only package and the numbers are good for their side.
