Quote from: Pigskin on May 25, 2026, 06:14:10 PMIt wasn't the money, Nic has told me many times he was coming back to Winnipeg as soon as he was a FA. The money was the bonus. It's the same as BO20, he was never leaving Winnipeg in the off season.

Well, call me cynical, but I just think we wouldn't have to make their contracts as high as we do if it wasn't about the money.

I'm not blaming them - this is their job - but it's obviously about the money.
My wife is amazing!

I haven't heard if the Bombers have brought in another QB today, or are they waiting for other teams to make there cuts.

If we're going to add a rookie QB then we may as well start from scratch with someone we have on our neg list or saw in tryout camps.

Adding another teams 4th or 5th choice doesn't seem to be of much value.

Lots of interesting comments elsewhere about some possible changes.

1. Smith starting at WIL.
2. Andrews over Sheehan
3. Stuart making the AR.

I wouldn't discount any of those ideas. They all have a basis. IMO I think item 1 and 3 have the most chance. Andrews ends up on the PR to start the season unless we get a trade offer for Sheehan.

One problem with that is we only have 3 globals in total on the roster at the moment. Not even enough to fully use the dedicated PR spots.

Smith was outstanding on teams last year. I would think he gets more time on D this year. He could be ready to start??

I thought Stuart was a great pick, and figured he would make the AR. The kids a swiss army knife.

Andrews over Sheehan. Not sure about that.

Quote from: Jesse on May 25, 2026, 06:07:56 PMIt was absolutely the money. It was Wade deciding we needed to bring the Manitoba boy home and paying him wht it took to make it happen.

I've heard numerous times it was more about the opportunity to play for Lapo and how Lapo was planning to use him.

Don't see Stuart anywhere but on the PR this season unless injuries make room for him on ST's.  He's a raw ball of energy but he doesn't have skill or the clout to displace any of the ST veterans that have been on the team for years.  He gets in line behind Ball and potentially Lane Novak when he returns. Novak is not listed on the Bomber roster anywhere that I can see.

Same thing last year folks thought we should move on from Sheehan.  I don't think that is happening anytime soon, had a really good year last year.

Novak is on the injured veteran list and could be back at any time or they would have placed him on 6 game IR. Even if he's healthy, it may take awhile to get back to game condition after missing TC. Also not sure who he'd replace.

I see the Bombers brought back Mayes a 2nd receiver today. He was on " retired list".

He did have a great year last year but the newbie with booming leg is intriguing. Probable candidate for PR.

Sir Blue and Gold

Sheahan needs competition too. It would be better if we could find someone who can directional kick as well as have the distance and hang time punt in the toolbox. I don't really think that's asking too much.

The deciding factor likely is that Sheehan is the holder for Castillo.

Like "comments" about inside sources or just rando forum dudes saying they want this or that?

I would be pretty shocked if Smith becomes a starter at anything before Shay does.  I also would be shocked if Kyrie outright loses his job.  (Guess he could be a DI.)

If he can do many of the trick kicks Sheahan can but also boom it then ya, I could see that.  Wasn't there one kick he did in PS1 that had a good backspin?  Everyone's criticism of Sheahan has always been the lack of strength.

Brady wanted respect for what he thought he was worth.  He would absolutely have walked if we made him an offer more than $50k less than someone else.  Because if not, we could simply call his bluff.  Anyone can talk a big game until the money is actually on the table.
