According to 3DownNation, Boombers have signed 2 former Bisons and a Golden Bear this morning.

"The Winnipeg Blue Bombers made two local additions on Tuesday, announcing the signings of Jackson Tachinski and Kaleb Mackie-McLeod.

Tachinski went unselected in the 2025 CFL Draft but attended training camp with the Edmonton Elks, where he was converted from quarterback to receiver. He signed back with the team in December after finishing his collegiate career at the University of Manitoba.

The six-foot-four, 215-pound was a three-year starter for the Bisons at quarterback, throwing for 6,190 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. He also rushed 271 times for 1,867 yards and 28 scores.

The Winnipeg native was named the Canada West Player of the Year in 2024 after leading Manitoba to a 7-1 record. Earlier that year, he attended training camp with the Blue Bombers as part of the CFL quarterback internship program.

According to a press release, the team intends to play Tachinski at receiver.

Mackie-McLeod went unselected in the 2026 CFL Draft after a four-year collegiate career with the Bisons. He played 28 games with the team, recording 90 total tackles, four sacks, and two forced fumbles.

The six-foot-four, 283-pound defender attended the 2026 CFL Invitational Combine in Waterloo, Ont., where he recorded 15 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press and a 5.34-second forty-yard dash.

The Blue Bombers also signed Canadian receiver Kolby Hurford.

The five-foot-eleven, 193-pound target was a seventh-round pick in the 2025 CFL Draft by the Edmonton Elks, though he returned to school for his final year of collegiate eligibility this past season.

The 24-year-old native of Redwater, Alta. played eight games at the University of Alberta in 2025, recording 40 catches for 438 yards and two touchdowns. In total, he caught 127 passes for 1,850 yards and 14 touchdowns over 42 games with the Golden Bears. "

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on May 19, 2026, 05:48:08 PMI'm sure they'll keep Allen around even if they don't have an immediate spot for him, may even plunk him on the PR until injuries crop up.  I wouldn't be surprised if he won the CB job opposite Moxie either.

Oh I think they'll keep him but he's only played 8 games. He needs to show versatility to beat out all the rookie DB's that might be a safety or CB already. He could just as easily be released as pushed to the PR.

Quote from: Blue In BC on May 19, 2026, 05:24:38 PMI guess we'll see but it's not what I expect. It would allow Griffin a full time role on defence at SAM. Unless they are looking at Allen at CB then he might well be off the AR. That would be shame IMO.

That will be the 1st things I look at this weekend against the Riders. Obviously most starters won't play so we'll see what the depth chart looks like.

I hope they can find a spot for Allen. Seems like he has a nose for the ball and played well at Safety.

Moxey will be 32 this season, that's getting up there for a CB, I expect his time with the Bombers will be limited to a year or two.

Preseason is when you try things out.  You can't read anything into the opening day DC from preseason, really.

JY defence is about as "flex" as it gets.  From 3 DE's in a cheetah package to 7 DB's in pass coverage, OC's have no idea what's coming.  Having guys that can play everything from DE to WIL, and everything from WIL to CB gives him unlimited diversity in his sets.

There are a few 2nd year players that will either step up of be given the gate in camp.  No doubt.  There is enough new talent to make that happen, both FA acquisitions and rookies.  I say this every year, but this year it looks even more likely that our "scrap heap" and PR will be looted.  Just hope we keep the best ones, and don't end up with guys that flash in camp and then fizzle.

I am really hopeful about this year.  We usually have some injuries in camp, and losing JSK is unfortunate, but with the depth we have at LB, I can't see it hurting us, he was literally a luxury.

Solid vet Rec corps, and some interesting talent coming in to challenge, and Condell is being presented some tools that should make his job a lot more interesting.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Nobody will be coming for our PR players. Bet on it.

We might cut someone like Vanterpool or Randolph that might draw some interest. There aren't that many 2nd year players that are going to getting pushed to our PR. Who? Maybe Peterson or Corcoran.

There is also the reserve list where a couple might get parked for each team.

EDIT: with the signing of 2 more Canadian receivers we have 10 on the roster? What the heck are they thinking?

Hmmmm. Team released Fletcher and Young. Both had some get comments in TC. It appears Dixon and Jenkins are now leading the pack.

Reese and Harris are still left. They add Pace earlier this week on the DL.
