Lots of folks sitting out Day 6 of Bombers camp:

Demski
Pokey Wilson
Vaval
Moxey
Ceresna
Schmekel
Ball
Gatkuoth
And OL Bucky Williams

Good news is that DT Cam Lawson is back after 2.5 days out.

First practice for Shyheim Battle. He was injured all through rookie camp.  He's on the corner with the 3s

Elgersma stroked a beautiful deep out in 12-on-12...perfectly in stride, early enough to give the receiver time turn upfield.

While DT Cam Lawson is back dressed today I haven't seen him on the D in 12 on 12 drills. It feels like it's not a full day for him.

O-line is eating up the D-linemen in this 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 drill. Until Jefferson slipped inside Wallace from the interior I'm not sure I saw a D-line win.

Lawson is in for some 12-on-12 here with what appears to be the 2nd team.
Nice coverage from Deandre Lamont 1 on 1 in the low red zone. Smacked away a nice pass from Elgersma

Really nice leaping TD catch from Kevens Clercius. Corner route to the back, had to slow a touch to shield the defender off the ball, leaped up to make a nice contested catch. Made it easier on himself by adjusting his speed.

Excellent reporting Jess, thanks.

A lot of these guys can thanks there lucky stars they didn't play during the Cal Murphy era.

Lots of Vet rest up days.

These are all just Derek Taylor's Twitter feed. I work for a living. I just know people don't have or don't check twitter every day.

A couple of the guys missing today did go down injured yesterday though, so might not all be vet days.

Quote from: ModAdmin on May 15, 2026, 04:59:27 AM3 Elgersma opened the day with the second offensive unit, but Terry Wilson also had reps with that crew. Just a note to fans, too: don't read anything into reports on X — including by yours truly — about an interception here or there.

LOL, Tait reads the forum...

;D  ;D

Thanks for the reassurance, Ed!!
Never go full Johnston!

I've heard little to nothing on one of our biggest FA signings in Ceresna.
Anyone seeing anything?

Comments about Woodbey were interesting. I really liked him last year and will be watching to see his progression this season.

He does seem to have really good versatility and skill levels. That makes him valuable in various defensive schemes and rotations. I'm not quite sure where he might see playing the most or whether that even matters. A high football IQ guy with a nose for the ball and good hands too.

IMO he's going to be making a lot of great plays this year.

Blue Bombers Training Camp | Day 6

Ed Tait
@EdTaitWFC

Jaiden Woodbey is a walking, talking advertisement for diligence, determination and an unwavering faith in oneself.

And it's that foundation — coupled with his unique skillset — which makes him a growing tour de force in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defence.

That in itself makes for a heckuva story, for not long ago the 26-year-old product of Fontana, CA was playing indoor football with the Massachusetts Pirates after being one of the final cuts of the Los Angeles Rams in 2023. But the phone wasn't buzzing to life with offers, so he got to work to chase down any opportunity.

Woodbey reached out to every Canadian Football League team's coaches and GMs via e-mails, texts and even popping up on LinkedIn profiles asking for a look. And so, to have that finally come to fruition with the Blue Bombers isn't just rewarding, it's priceless.

"My mom was very, very helpful for this, too," Woodbey told bluebombers.com after practice on Friday. "She reached out to CFL agents for me, they reached back to her and said, 'He's not on a team yet?' I ended up meeting with eight CFL agents and they all said the same thing: 'We thought you were on a practice squad in the NFL.'

"Shoutout to my agent now, Tom Casagrande. I'm grateful to him. He told me he'd try his best to get me something and three days later he had teams lined up and, thankfully, Winnipeg was one of them."

Woodbey's first year here wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, though. He spent most of the summer on the practice squad before making his CFL debut in a home win over Hamilton in September. But by season's end he was an emerging presence in Winnipeg's defence.

"Wood's got some physical traits that say linebacker/moving around the box player," said Blue Bombers head coach Mike O'Shea. "But he's got feet and some vision and open-field tackling ability that says DB, so offences would have to account for him in a variety of different ways which is what is part of the magic."

The interesting sidebar story to Woodbey's rookie CFL campaign — he spent the year living with safety Cam Allen and cornerback/returner Trey Vaval, each of them going through their own struggles to find a place in Winnipeg's lineup before taking turns making an impact.

"Those are my guys. We call ourselves 'The Dawg Pound,'" Woodbey explained. "We came here for our first year together and went through all the ups and downs. The first few weeks being on P-squad, I knew it was professional ball, but I just wanted to play.

"Then seeing my roommate (Vaval) score touchdowns, it felt like I was on the field sometimes. That was so fun and to be able to see him win those awards at the end of the year — amazing."

That's a word Woodbey used a lot in our conversation — 'amazing' — and there is still an element of pure joy in his every moment on the field. Again, when you chase this for as long and as diligently as he did, the reward means everything.

"It's amazing right now," Woodbey said, his face lighting up with a wide grin again. "I'm playing everything. Safety, backer, inside backer... everything. They trust me. It is a bit of anomaly to have a 230-pound pound player who can do a bit of everything. You think, 'This is a big guy... oh wait, he's running with the receiver. Oh wait, he's setting the edge. He's dropping into the zone. He's doing this and doing that.' To me, that's the true definition of a versatile player.

"I give credit to JY (Jordan Younger, defensive coordinator) to be able to showcase that talent. We have guys like that on this defence, guys like Michael Griffin — who is basically the same body type as me — and it allows our defence to maybe confuse offences sometimes. It can be high risk/high reward, but if you put in the work with this defence ,you know you'll be able to do it.

"I know what's going on, now it's just a matter of learning the back end of stuff. That's the next step for my game — making sure I know what is happening with the front seven and with the back end.

"It's just amazing to be able to play football again. My comfortability right now is through the roof."

I took the kids out today for the last hour or so of practice. The weather has been absolutely miserable both times I've gone, lol.

- I'm officially worried about Pokey. DT reported he went down in practice one day and he's not missed 2 practices in a row.

- That said, with Pokey out, it's officially the Collaros to White show. Those two are lighting it up.

- The OL featured some new looks today. Neufeld was sitting and Randolph took his spot, but Vanterpool also was in at LG today with the starters. While Wallace was playing LT with the 2nd team.

- Moxey got the day off at CB. Ridge Texada took his place while Warren Burrell was at the other spot that McGhee was working at before getting cut.

- Woodbey, Kramdi, Griffin all roving in their hybrid safety/SLB/FS roles. Jaylen Smith also getting worked in there (albeit with 2nd or 3rd string)

- I'd say Elgersma was still getting the #2 reps, but also saw a lot of Terry Wilson today. Perkins getting fewer reps today than I saw last time I went.

- Wilson very hot/cold as always. Saw one deep throw to an open receiver 50 yards down the field, also saw simple overthrows to receivers in the flats right next to him, interception, etc. Perkins threw a terrible pick-6 in one of his limited reps today as well.

- A lot of running the ball in scrimmage today, but with defence unable to hit, the RBs just went threw the hole every time untouched, hard to get a sense of who did what well or not.

- Saw Dante Daniels out with the 2nd team offence as the 6th OL. Won a rep blocking against Munier-Bailey.
