Quote from: Jesse on May 09, 2026, 07:37:47 PMThese are the little things that are going to pop up as you make changes. The league and teams and players are going to have to troubleshoot as things come up. It's why you don't make so many changes at once because you're not going to be able to put out one fire before the next one starts.

A real issue is the CFL under Johnston moves ahead with these decisions without fully consulting all effected parties, thus unintended consequences. Apparently Walters beaked off about these 2 issues although I don't know on which medium he did so, he has to be careful or he'll end up being fined for insubordination.

I heard him say the draft would be much more challenging. It obviously will be.
My wife is amazing!

Ya KW commented on the draft-day swap.  However, this just shifts the work to the GM -- it'll now be imperative a GM (and staff) can predict which prospects will go to NFL and stick, which will go to the NFL and fail (they already predict this for later round picks), and who won't go to the NFL at all.

If a GM/staff guesses wrong they could find themselves wasting a high 1RDP on someone who will never see Canada again.
Never go full Johnston!

Zach also said he doesn't like it because it's one week less a year with his family.

So some players will like it because it's guaranteed (for 89% of AR players) playoff money -- which isn't anything to scoff at if you're an ELC.  But other players (the highest paid) would probably rather have the family time.

But ya, having our draft before the NFL is a bit of a headscratcher.  Besides Johnston, who would think this is a good thing?  Is there any chance to move the season up but keep our draft after the NFL?  What about having it just hours after the NFL draft, or the next day?  Wouldn't that still leave enough time before rookie camp starts?
