Brady Oliveira signs three-year contract extension with Blue Bombers

WINNIPEG, MB., December 15, 2025 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the signing of running back Brady Oliveira to a three-year contract extension through the 2028 Canadian Football League season.

He was scheduled to become a free agent in February.

Oliveira (5-10, 229; North Dakota; born: August 15, 1997, in Winnipeg, MB.) is already one of the most-decorated players in Blue Bombers history and will now continue his career with his hometown team.

The CFL's Most Outstanding Player in 2024 and a two-time winner of the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian Award in 2023 and 2024, Oliveira was named the Club's most outstanding player and top Canadian for a third consecutive season in 2025. He is also a two-time CFL All Star (2023, 2024) and coming off a 2025 season in which he rushed for 1,163 yards and three touchdowns and set career highs in receiving with 61 receptions for 546 yards.

He has now rushed for over 1,000 yards in four consecutive seasons and is already sixth in franchise history in career rushing yards at 5,480 yards.

Oliveira posted four 100-yard rushing games and one 100-yard effort in receiving in 2025, now giving him 22 career 100-yard contests in his career – a total that ranks seventh in franchise history.

Oliveira was selected by the Blue Bombers in the second round, 14th overall, in the 2019 CFL Draft after an outstanding career at North Dakota. He has since suited up for 83 games for the club, scoring 27 touchdowns.
Season ticket holder since year 1 of the Reinbold era.

Great signing, at least this year we are able to have a degree of certainty .
The only other big money signing we have among our free agents is Demski.

From Dunk:

Big money Brady Oliveira.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign star hometown RB for $290,000 in 2026 and $300,000 in 2027 and 2028.

He was already the CFL's highest-paid running back, earning $240,000 in 2025.

Glad to have him back but still think the SMS hit was too high. Maybe some of the money comes out of marketing money. Regardless we know what impact it may have had on SMS and can get on with re-signing or announcing other players. In theory it only took $50K out of the newer higher SMS.

Let's see if we lose anybody we wanted to keep as free agency hits in February due to lack of SMS room. We don't know how much more our other free agents will require.

One game at a time.

That's a lot of cake

I'm thinking he'll be in the top 5 highest paid non-QBs in the league. Definitely top 10.

Sir Blue and Gold

Happy he's back but not sure I love it.

Best player we have on offense and our best Canadian. Love this move.

That's way too much money. Close to a million for him and Collaros.

It's gonna hurt next year but I suppose theoretically in 2027 we'll probably have a lower cost option QB so it could make some long term sense.

It's definitely a giant piece of sms pie though. In my opinion too much. But we'll see.

Wow, to be honest, I am shocked at the numbers here. He got a 20% pay increase...how many out there got that at their place of work?!? I think it's ridiculous/we way overpaid. What other team is going to tie up$300k on their RB and $600k on their Qb?!?!

So if BO is 'worth' $300k, what do you tell Demski??? The extra $50k we gave him should have went to an OL upgrade.

We'll see how the rest of FA pans out, but if we end up with Neufeld, Wallace & Thomas, I'd imagine this will be Walter's last year. We all knew what the issues were.
