Quote from: theaardvark on Today at 12:22:43 AMIf charges were not laid or complaints made, I'm not sure how he can get suspended or released.

Kelly had zero charges against him as well.  No police report filed.  However, in that case there was a pretty quick complaint made.  Maybe this case, too.

I agree, though, that we must balance the response to complaints made by randos.  It's no like fake complaints aren't made all the time, especially against well-known (or rich) sports stars.

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on April 17, 2026, 06:28:13 PMThey are left with Bhel Duncan-Dusby, who looks to be the least talented of the 3, their equivalent of Joey Corcoran.

I was *just* about to post the same.  ;D

However, I was going to say Busby isn't even a Corcoran (who has hands).  SSK in for some hurt with their "cheap big NAT" REC paradigm.  Someone could ruin their day by taking any big-body REC in the draft right before SSK can pick...

Quote from: Jesse on April 17, 2026, 04:49:46 PMAjou has a career high of 300 yards?

He was still all potential at this point.

But Ajou was probably their best blocker and is a very big body out there.  That's the type SSK/Mace are interested in.

He was probably already better than Clercius, and with even more future potential.

Well, bye!

Quote from: Pete on Today at 02:15:50 AMthere is no criminal charges or even a civil suit. The complainant went to the riders directly.
The league and the team does have the right to release any player due to behavior detrimental to the team, it part of most pro contracts

I heard that last night, apparently the same thing applied to Chad Kelly, what's up with that?  How can a person receive severe punishment for an action if it has not been proven in court to be a criminal or civil offence? Is the CFL commissioner also a judge?

It's like having a school teacher fired for allegations of inappropriate behavior without a fair trial of the evidence.

There's a wide range of behaviour that's not criminal that's still unacceptable to employers.

Both Kelly and Ajou were suspended for violating the code of conduct clause in their contracts. It was an employer holding the employee to an agreed upon standard. It has nothing to do with the presence or lackthereof of criminal charges.

Good points, I suspect the difference is Ajou and Kelly did not dispute their conduct was inapporopriate.

Kelly continues to say he did nothing wrong. Despite canned apologies when he was forced into it at the time.

Kelly was probably receiving advice from Trump's lawyer Ray Cohn.

People who have no moral compass always think they did nothing wrong. The guy is a creep and I wouldn't want him in my clubhouse or on my team regardless of how talented a player he is. I'd rather lose than have to play with douche bags.

Marino was outright kicked off a team, and out of the league.

There were No criminal charges, and no criminal offence of any kind.

Haven't you heard? Kelly says he's a changed man...the only trouble is there's no one else to verify it.
But he also stated recently that the nfl is still the dream..at 32 , having just missed a year due to injury and with all the baggage he entails he's obviously delusional.

Kelly got married in Feb. and they already have a child, I guess it remains to be seen if this event changes his behaviour.

We don't know if Ajou will appeal...
