The title tax is real. No team is immune to that.

Ottawa make AJ Allen highest paid LB in CFL.
Allen received a $60,000 signing bonus to ink the deal, it's worth $240,000 in hard money for 2026 and $250,000 in 2027. That totals $490,000 in hard money over the two-year term along with an additional $12,000 available in incentives. (Source 3downnation)

That's insane.  But, I guess, NAT ratio-buster, eh?  Is the dude smart or was someone else next to him "the QB of the D"?
Never go full Johnston!

Many players are signing big new $$ contracts. No problem. It's related to the increased SMS and top players are getting most of it.

Yah not such a bad thing, if the veteran receiver gets paid an average of $150k it will make the CFL more attractive to college players that fall short of the NFL.  Same goes for salaries across the board, multi-season veteran players should make more than $120k.

Bombers re-sign Hallett. I wasn't expecting that but he's a good ST player. Can't keep everybody.

Must have accepted base level ST salary, hopefully he can stay healthy as he always adds a spark.

I knew it, and I like it.  He has a special skill set.  Yes, the fact it took forever does hint we got him at a good deal.  I bet ELC + small bump ($15k?).  Mafia won't force a guy back to ELC just because they can...

And there's still a chance some DPs beat him out in TC.  Puts some more pressure on Ball, too.

I never thought it would be expensive to re-sign him. He adds some good skills on ST's. At this time of year it's just a question of where does everybody fit in. The team has many good ST players.

We have 29 or 30 Canadians on the roster. We'll draft another 7 or 8. A few may end up on the IR. Another few will end up on the PR. Some will never make it past their 1st TC.

He might push either Kelly or Ball off the roster or new draft choice might beat out one of the 3.  Kelly has had the least productivity, so he might be the guy having the most to prove. He also has an injury history each year since being drafted.
