Moving goalposts, taking 10 yards length out of the field and changing the clock are not "American" changes.

4 downs, 11 men, no ratio, narrower field, there were so many more ways they could have "Americanize" the game.  But they chose a few cosmetic changes to update the game.

Again, I would be more open to the changes if they werent the league's only major initiative so far to attract new fans.

I am still waiting for other efforts to enhance fans' experiences.

Funny, I watched the second half of the Super Bowl yesterday just to see what all the fuss was about and my initial conclusion was great athletes, not enough space to demonstrate their abilities properly. Same goes for hockey, giving them more space to perform would make the game way more exciting. Imagine soccer if they drastically shrunk the field, it would cause less excitement and more congestion.

Which is why the CFL is so much better, with the larger end zones and 65 yard wide field and 12 players.

Taking 10 yards off the length does not affect the "room" to play, and 5 yards off the EZ but removing the goal post/uprights should make even more room, 50% more than the NFL, and effectively the same of more than the 20yd CFL obstructed view.

Watching the superb owl yesterday was painful, as you said, great talent but no room.  Players keep getting bigger and faster, and keep running out of room.  65 yard wide field is huge.  15yard deep EZ is ginormous.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

The field is still 15 yards wider and still 10 yards longer.  There is no way to think it could be mistaken for American.  And it sounds like the clock won't be changing during the most important time.

If fans have to ask that question because the league has not answered it, that's the problem.

He's just stating the obvious and what the rest of us have been saying since Stu made the announcement. I have no prob1em with the proposed fie1d changes if they are indeed to support Canadian expansion and the economic viabi1ity of the 1eague and  maintain the ratio etc, but just be honest with us, dont te11 us its to make the game more exciting, because the changes wont
