Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign four CFL Draft picks, plus undrafted free agent Carter Hooper
by 3Down Staff  April 30, 2026

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed four members of their 2026 CFL Draft class, plus an undrafted free agent, ahead of the opening of training camp.

Tight end Dante Daniels, receiver Joshua Jack, linebackers Charles-Elliot Bouliane and Brody Clark, and defensive lineman Carter Hooper have all inked rookie deals with the team.

Daniels was selected with the 10th overall pick at the top of the second round after the team traded up to get him, sacrificing a second-round selection in 2027. The six-foot-six, 271-pound target caught 10 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns over two seasons at NC State University, serving primarily as a blocker. The Windsor, Ont., native previously attended Butler Community College, becoming a sought-after transfer recruit.

Bouliane was taken with the 24th overall pick in the third round. The five-foot-11, 229-pound linebacker was a two-time RSEQ all-star at the Université de Montréal and was named an All-Canadian on special teams in 2023. Over 39 career games with the Carabins, he made 122 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, seven sacks, one forced fumble, three pass deflections, and one interception.

Clark was selected with the 42nd overall pick in the fifth round. The Delta, B.C., native appeared in 11 games over two seasons at York University and was named a second-team OUA all-star in 2024, amassing 88 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, three pass breakups, an interception, and a blocked kick. The six-foot, 217-pounder previously played for the Langley Rams in the Canadian Junior Football League.

Jack went with the 60th overall pick in the seventh round. The six-foot, 200-pound target from Saint Mary's University caught 47 passes for 768 yards and three touchdowns in 23 career games. The native of Brampton, Ont., also rushed for one score and returned a kickoff for another major.

Hooper went unselected in the 2026 CFL Draft, despite a respectable college resume. The six-foot-five, 265-pound defensive end spent his first three seasons at the University of Connecticut, before transferring to the University of South Dakota for two years. In 54 games between the two programs, the Burlington, Ont., native made 69 total tackles, five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and three batted passes.

Winnipeg has also placed a pair of Americans,  running back J.J. Taylor and offensive lineman Ben Dooley, on the retired list. Neither player has previously played in a CFL game.

Blue Bombers Rookie Camp Primer
Ed Tait  May 5, 2026

WHO TO WATCH
Names passed along by Blue Bombers crack scouting staff (in no particular order)

#9 Bryce Perkins, QB: He's 29 and was the UFL's MVP last year and has a start and a Super Bowl ring from his days with the Los Angeles Rams. So, technically, he's a rookie in name only. All of that pro experience makes him one of the more fascinating players to track in the weeks ahead.

#73 Dante Daniels, TE: We told you the story of the Blue Bombers second-round draft pick last week and the club's management/coaching staff is clearly intrigued to have a 6-5, 272-pound tight end/fullback in their offensive arsenal.

#54 Micah Mazzccua, OL: Massive prospect at 6-5, 325 pounds who played guard at Nebraska, Florida and Baylor. If he's as solid as the scouts believe, he could be one of many who pushes the club to start three Americans along the offensive line.

#13 Taylor Elgersma, QB: The big Canadian QB really needs no introduction to Blue Bombers fans at this point as the former Hec Crighton Trophy winner who was selected by the club in last year's draft and then spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Birmingham Stallions. We'll get our first look at him Wednesday, fuelling an already fascinating storyline.

#72 Dorian Singer, WR: Had a long look last year from the Jacksonville Jaguars after spending his college days with Utah, USC and Arizona. Receiving depth is always a must in our league.

#58 David Reese, DE: He's got 56 collegiate games to his name over eight years, with injuries giving him two more years of eligibility. Started every game at Syracuse last year and has posted 13.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss in his career at Syracuse, Cal and Florida.

#50 Johnny Hodges, LB: Had a look last year from the Los Angeles Chargers. Was named the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year and Second-Team All-Big 12 during his days at Texas Christian.

#17 Jordan Taylor, DB: The Blue Bombers have always had a knack for finding quality DBs. Taylor will be one of many trying to prove he's the next one. Was in rookie minicamp last year with the Las Vegas Raiders.

#36 Robert Javier, DB: Good size at 6-1, 195, Javier has spent time in Saskatchewan after playing in three preseason games with the Tennessee Titans in 2024.

#89 Key'Shawn Smith, WR: Appeared in three preseason games last year with the Kansas City Chiefs. Also a returner.
