Sad to hear Ted Goveia has passed.  The entire CFL was on "Team TEd" as he fought his cancer.

Ted did great things for the Blue and Gold, and rightfully earned the big chair in Hamilton, and has engineered a roster that has them very much improved.

No doubt it will be a sombre event tonight playing there, and both teams are going to give it that little extra for a man that touched so many of their lives and careers.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Goveia

Wow. The timing is surreal. I wish he would have at least seen this game in his honor. RIP Ted. He left his mark on the CFL and will be remembered well.

Wow, that came on super quick, did he not know he had cancer before he took on the Hamilton job?

A great CFL mind. Way too young.

Thank you for everything, Ted.

So sad.

i know...saw the 1970 and it was a punch to the guy.  RIP Ted.

Got the turbo cancer.  Exact same thing took my dad 3 years ago.  That's how I knew it was game over for Ted.  You can't let it get into your bones, and if it does, spend tons of time with the person right now, because they won't be here long.

RIP Ted, thanks for all the great work for B&G.  And if your HAMmies win the cup this year, you'll be a legend in The Hammer, too.

No disrespect to Ted, but does anyone know why he got this special months-long tribute, spanning a ton of games and even the pre-season?  I'm not saying Ted doesn't deserve it, I just don't recall a similar thing ever before in the CFL?  Single in-game tributes, sure all the time, but week after week of special things, special helmet stickers league-wide, etc?  That's new.

If Rigmaiden or KW gets cancer tomorrow I'm pretty sure they don't get the same treatment -- not CFL-wide.  It's weird.

From what I gather Ted was probably involved with all levels of football more than most, and he had a role with WFC for ages (but most of it just a scout-ish guy?).  Certainly his role in HAM was a drop in the bucket in his career.

Maybe Wally will get the same treatment, if/when that ever comes to pass?

Again, no disrespect, I guess I just need someone to fill me in on the why?
