Quote from: J5V on August 23, 2025, 11:12:29 PMTwo questionable calls favouring the Riders already. Geez!

The DPI in the first min and the challenge upholding were bizarre.  From everything shown I don't see any DPI.  The only thing I can think of was there was something earlier in the route?

And command has been overturning everything that seemed "unreasonable" this season.  I'm genuinely shocked.  Dickenson The Greater is like "what does a guy have to do to win one of these!".

Quote from: J5V on August 23, 2025, 10:19:23 PMI'm definitely pulling for Calgary in this one. I just can't think of a circumstance where I'd ever pull for the Riders, ever.

I don't know man.  All those years of BLM in CGY creaming us made me firmly ABC.  We may have the big rivalry with SSK, but they weren't the ones bullying us all those years.

But ya, sometimes you have to be strategic with your hate!

Quote from: BBRT on August 23, 2025, 05:22:24 PMWill be at the game (I live in Calgary and still maintained my season tickets). Only been to 2 games this year. This will be my 3rd. Good news is that the game day sales have been very good so should be a near full house for a change. I am leaning toward a Calgary win but have my doubts.

Love having a "guy on the inside"!  2 questions:

1) Tons of green jerseys... what % of the crowd was green?  Looked like 50% on TV!

2) Did you watch T.Harris after he got concussed?  Was he wobbly all the way to the bench?

Bonus question: how early did all the greenie fans bail?  (Though all credit to any fans making the driving trek to the neighbor stadium, I'm for anything that helps the CFL have more success.)

Note his hand finger spacing, strange facial look, strange lean, facing & looking at nothing...

If you missed his wonky walking the first time you should watch it again.  It occurs after they cut away to the crowd cheering then cut back to Trevor once he's lifted up.  You need to see him walk for the 3 sec they show him before realizing it was a really bad look.

He's gone.  He should have taken a page out of Zach's book and just stayed laying down.  Zach knows when it's the danger zone.  There is nothing tough about looking like Cornish running like 3 Stooges Curly halfway on the ground, or in this case stumbling like a zombie.

And no, it's not funny, I'm not laughing or happy.  It's really really sad to see a possible HOF QB going through this.  Just like it was for Cornish, as much as I hated him ripping us a new one every week.  (And Ricky Ray after that hi-lo hit we all remember...)

But if that team, or the league, doesn't look at his walk there, and they proceed to let him play in LDC... that's adding a lot of risk to Trevor and not a good look vis a vis "player safety".

Why was Sayles out?  Is he likely to be out for LDC too?

If so, pick on his spot just like CGY did all night.  Fields also looked limpy at times.  Pick on him, or whoever is his replacement if he's out.

Secondary weaknesses starting to show for SSK.  Although, they still did quite well especially against that deep shot.  I might use more of the mid / zone-sit game against them, as well as our normal run/short game.

Riders lose bolds well for the Bombers heading to the LDC. We can catch these fools.
Season ticket holder since year 1 of the Reinbold era.

For sure noticed it. Worried. Concussion before he is fully recovered from the last one. Light blows will cause this if he doesn't take a long rest, I am talking weeks or months. Is Mace going to ride him into the ground because it's his last year?

Unspecified illness. Likely back for LDC.

True, but guaranteed most of those are expats living in Cal. Same when you see lots of Bomber fans in other CFL cities.

Its the sad reality of pro sports. We say we're into player safety, but when push comes to shove in a game, shame on everyone involved with this, from the league's 'spotter' to the Riders themselves.

Harris was looking around like he did not know where he was right after that hit.

The Stamps got pressure on Harris all game. They rush the QB hard, usually with at least 4, plus some blitzing, although on the Harris concussion sack they were only rushing 3. Their d-line is very good. They get more pressure up the middle than we do, and their DEs actually try to get penetration instead of standing at the line of scrimmage waving their arms in passing lanes (sorry Willy but it's true, although part of that is he's often battling a double team).

Stamps o-line is also better than ours IMO, and Mills is a great back, brings a speed dimension that Brady does not have.

Philpot is a star also.

There's a recipe for beating the riders, but I'm not sure we have the necessary ingredients.

Sayles being out also made it easier to pick on Exume and Fields. Same for Ford in for an injured Lokombo. Hopefully we can take advantage of Saskatchewan's secondary, and hopefully we get some receiving help by Sunday.

Positive note is that Calgary was quite bad last season.

So a team can do a complete rebuild in one off season.

I was at the game and to the best of my knowledge most of the Rider Fans stayed for the entire game. At least in the section where I have my season tickets. And I did not see Harris wobble to the bench. I think he was just in concussion protocol etc. I would bet he will be playing on the labor day game.

And before anyone gets too excited about the rider lost please remember that the Bombers are no where near the team from top to bottom that the Stamps are in 2025.

Calgary had a very good draft and picked up a couple of key pieces. Alford at #1, and Fortin at #8 are both playing very well. Adams also has been lights out for them.

Oh man! Just looking at that pic makes my stomach flip. Poor guy. Playing for a franchise that doesn't give a **** about his health, long term or short. When his career is over and he is suffering PCS he'll have grounds for a terrific lawsuit.

"The long-term effects of concussion

While the short-term symptoms of concussion are reversible, research suggests that even a single knock to the head can have severe consequences later in life. For example,
figures from one study that analysed the records of more than 160,000 trauma patients identified that, in patients aged 65 and older, just one concussion was associated with a 22-26% increase in the risk of dementia in the following five to seven years.

Even clearer is research showing that neurological damage accumulates with multiple knocks to the head, even when they are apparently symptomless, or 'sub-concussive'. Repeated concussion has been linked to increased risk of neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, as well as chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Data from studies of former American footballers is staggering. A survey of more than 2000 retired professional players found that those with a history of multiple concussions were three times more likely to have been diagnosed with clinical depression. Another study of death certificates found that the death rate from neurodegenerative diseases was three times higher for pro-footballers than the general population."
