Quote from: BBRT on July 12, 2025, 03:58:15 PMSo would the players need overnight clothing etc.? and finding hotel rooms for that large number of folks must have been a challenge. Also given how late the game was cancelled and by the time they would get to the hotel etc. and then have to been up this morning I would think it was a very short night.

Rider forum & TSN explained a lot of it.  For posterity I'll highlight it here.  CGY stayed in Regina Thu night, so they were already setup for a sleepover night.

Yes, only one night though.  That's when you get that little people equipment guy to go get 20 3-packs of undies and 10 6-packs of hanes socks at Walmart first thing in the morning.  Problem solved.  Since they never even did warmup Fri night, presumably the uniforms would be re-wearable.

Half(ish) the team got Fri night Hotel Sask rooms and half went to U of whatever (Regina?) dorms, 4 to a room apparently.

Quote from: Jesse on July 12, 2025, 02:00:21 PMI guess the misunderstanding came from people using the weather policy, but this wasn't a weather issue. The weather policy also apparently assumes that the game has already started and been stopped, which is why they wouldn't be asked to play again the next day.

If it's small and floating in the air, to me that's weather.  Water vapor, snow, smoke.  All small and floating in the air.  Water vapor floats up from the lakes, etc, smoke floats up from the ground fires.

AQI gets its own section on the weather web sites/apps.

I get what you're saying, but I think a case could be made that smoke is weather now?

As for the "game has to be started" (or not) thing... embarrassing there's amiguity on such a basic point as this.  Shameful, and CFL needs to clarify the rule.

On Trevor's 3rd down gamble scramble/run, after he got tackled fairly hard, he started to get back up but was still doing that running-while-falling-and-not-quite-up thing like a chicken with their head cut off.

The last time I saw that was Cornish in his last season.  He took yet another concussion and his brain/muscle connection was completely scrambled.  It was very sad to see when Cornish did it, as it was much more pronounced.  Something you never want to see.

I would think SSK and the league need to make sure Trevor isn't getting to the stage Cornish did.  I think a) he wasn't yet healthy from the previous concussion that had Maier in, and b) he took 2-3 hits in this game that could have added to the concussion problems.

Ironic, since SSK bailed on the "most concussed" QB (Zach) in favor of made-of-glass QB (Trevor) who now may be the most concussed QB.  And I'm not making fun or anything, since this is serious business and I want no QB to end their career due to concussion.  It's sad, and it's always a "knock wood" thing with our QB too.

He is. First overall draft, fair ball. BUT...brings up how ridiculous awarding picks 8 and 17 to Calgary was. The first place team. Seemed unfair at the time and seems grossly unfair now.

Calgary made a ton of mistakes early then dominated the Riders. 2 FG's would have meant that Sask lost by 6 points less than they did.

Calgary is the best team in the league right now. Dominated us last week and dominated the Riders this week & both teams were unbeaten going into the games.

I'm looking forward to a great game next week!

I'm not giving the Riders an excuse but they have 18 players on 1 or 6 game IR. Calgary has 19 as well. It's the reality of the sport that many players will be injured at some point.

It comes down to which players are injured, when and for how long they will be out. Depth comes into play but that's a lot of players on both teams.
One game at a time.

I can't give any details like you did, but I think Harris should quit after this season for his health.

It's clearly hard for some of these people to leave the game.  Some can, Michael Reilly did it. But should Bighill be playing?

It's just an impression, but it makes no sense for Harris  running around getting clobbered as he does, at his age. And the hits are ferocious.

Also just an impression but maybe Wilson is the glue that is going to hold the Stamps D together. They looked very good.

The Stampeders look pretty legit. I hope the Bombers are ready for them this upcoming week.

Quote from: Jesse on July 12, 2025, 11:03:53 PMThe reporter was also saying that Harris was having shouting matches with the medical staff about being not allowed to play? When he admits to being foggy? Can't trust a thing that guy says apparently.

He's only hurting himself by being so seemingly flippant over what was probably another concussion. Being foggy is a serious sign.

How much rope does Lauther have? Kicking 62.5% this year, age 34.

Is it a slump or a trend?

I wonder if Mace going for touchdowns is related.

Lauther has never been any good/he's always struggled. I don't know why or how they haven't brought someone else in to kick

Go_Big_D

mace sure likes making his team it difficult to win the game

Quote from: Waffler on July 13, 2025, 01:27:18 PMHe is. First overall draft, fair ball.

Dickenson The Greater (DtG) has always been an expert at utilizing a monster big & tall REC.  Think Eric Rogers.  When healthy, he was unstoppable (used to drive me nuts).

And now he has an "above average" QB, which DtG also has explicitly said he needs and relies on.

Now he has both.  And a run game that is probably on par with the Messam years.  CGY sitting pretty right now.  It's our job to knock them back down!

Not in this game.  They had Lauther attempt 50+ ones (failed), and then gambled on 3rd down when they were in/close-to the red zone.  Even Lauther could have made 25-32 yarders reliably.

But in general, I agree Mace will consider his range / (dis)ability going forward.

Riders have an oversized IR every season since like 2021.  I wonder how much of it is "player hiding".  And I also still question what they are doing with training, etc, which may be partially to blame.
