P.S. In less than an hour they'll probably have under-8 AQI.  Oh well.  I guess they don't want to ever beat that @WPG game that went past 1... We'll have the record forever!

Haha, from 3down:

The CFL has already announced that kickoff of the game will take place at 4:00 p.m. EDT, though the decision appears to contradict the CFL's publicly available weather protocol, which came into effect in 2019 in cooperation with the CFLPA.

Under the terms of that policy, any game delayed by more than three hours is supposed to be cancelled. Language explicitly states that "players will NOT be required to play on the following day."

So it's not as simple as Junkie alluded to.  They are relying on (once again, sigh) ambiguity in CFL rules.

That said, if they can't play tonight, then 100% I agree they should play a real game to make up for it.  (Like what they are doing.)

What the heck would happen to all of the gambling should they change the game to a shoot-out weeks/months later, possibly with a different AR?  If the bets weren't cancelled then any player prop, TD, or O/U bets would be useless.

So I guess this is the first ever CFL postponement due to AQI?

I guess the misunderstanding came from people using the weather policy, but this wasn't a weather issue. The weather policy also apparently assumes that the game has already started and been stopped, which is why they wouldn't be asked to play again the next day.

Everyone is just doing the best they can amidst sucky conditions.

So, Riders get a free concessions day... will help the bottom line.

Wonder if they can restock for today on such short notice.  Might run out of Hot Chocolate.

Stampeders have secured rooms for the night just in case they have to play tomorrow.

I sort have wondered how they handle this? I would assume the Stamps players would not have packed for an overnight gig. I would have thought given it is under a 1 hr flight from Calgary to Regina the team would not have packed for overnight trip. So would the players need overnight clothing etc.? and finding hotel rooms for that large number of folks must have been a challenge. Also given how late the game was cancelled and by the time they would get to the hotel etc. and then have to been up this morning I would think it was a very short night.

Waffler

Season ticket holders getting a $50 store credit per ticket.  Pretty cool for them.

Also due to vendors being unable to fully restock they are allowing fans to bring in up to 1 Liter (non-alc) beverage.

I'm in the BC interior, we've had months of kids outdoor sports schedules cancelled outright the last 4-5 years due to poor air quality, to the point many kids no longer sign up.  This year we've been lucky, decent rain and not much smoke so far.
