Ten minutes before it was announced, my buddy said that Valardi would never sign long term here. He'd run out his RFA and then leave.  He was of the opinion that young guys and their wives don't want to live in Winnipeg.  Older guys with kids like it here, but young guys miss the bright lights.

Samberg apparently asking for $6M, Jets offering $2.5M. I thought the Jets would be around $5M over 5-6 years.

I hate the games related to arbitration. Just give the man $5-5.5 per at 6-7 years and call it day.

What irks me the most here is he'll only get a one-year deal via the arbitration route as he's set to be a UFA after next season.

I don't think these numbers have anything to do with contract negotiations. Just what they're filing if it is a one-year arbitration deal.

The Jets might be offering more than 6 over 6-8 years. The agents know the salary cap is increasing, so the more years you add, the higher they want the number.
