Calgary Stampeders place LB Marquel Lee on six-game injured list ahead of clash with Ottawa
By 3Down Staff -June 20, 2025

The Calgary Stampeders have lost another key piece to the six-game injured list ahead of their meeting with the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday.

American middle linebacker Marquel Lee will be out long-term with a bicep injury, joining all-star receiver Reggie Begelton (knee) and veteran long-snapper Aaron Crawford (knee) as starters lost this week. In a pair of starts this season, the 29-year-old NFL veteran has made 15 defensive tackles.

Canadian Micah Teitz will bump over to start in the middle for Calgary this week, while American Jacob Roberts gets the nod at weakside linebacker. Canadian linebacker Nicky Farinaccio will draw into the lineup for the first time as depth.

Defensively, the team will receive a boost from the return of defensive tackle Miles Brown after a one-week absence. Cedric Wilcots II also draws back into the defensive end rotation, while Canadian George Idoko and American Shaun Peterson Jr. will both be healthy scratches.

On the other side of the ball, returner Erik Brooks will get the start at receiver in place of Begelton, allowing the team to dress American Eno Benjamin as a third running back. Rookie first-round pick Christopher Fortin will get the start at centre with Bryce Bell (shoulder) on the one-game injured list, while Tomas Jack-Kurdyla becomes a healthy scratch in favour of Rodeem Brown as the sixth man.

Veteran fullback William Langlais also returns to the lineup, while rookie Jason MacGougan makes his debut at long snapper.

The Calgary Stampeders (2-0) will host the Ottawa Redblacks (0-2) at McMahon Stadium on Saturday, June 21 with kickoff slated for 2:00 p.m. EDT.

Ottawa Redblacks to start QB Dustin Crum against Calgary Stampeders
By 3Down Staff -June 20, 2025

The Ottawa Redblacks have officially declared Dustin Crum as their starting quarterback for Saturday's game against the Calgary Stampeders.

The six-foot, 210-pound native of Grafton, Ohio made 14 starts for the Redblacks as a CFL rookie in 2023, throwing for 3,109 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 741 yards and nine scores, posting a 3-11 record.

The 26-year-old performed mostly short-yardage duty in 2024, rushing for 206 yards and seven touchdowns. He attempted only 45 passes, throwing for 320 yards and two interceptions.

Matthew Shiltz started at quarterback for Ottawa in Week 2 and struggled, throwing for 205 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions in a 39-18 loss to the Montreal Alouettes. Franchise quarterback Dru Brown, who was limited all week in practice according to the team's official report, remains on the one-game injured list due to a hip injury.

The Redblacks have made only two changes to their game-day roster from last week, adding Canadian defensive lineman Muftah Ageli and American linebacker Frankie Griffin. Lucas Cormier and Davion Taylor, both linebackers, have been moved to the one-game injured list.

Ageli was a fourth-round pick in the 2025 CFL Draft out of Northwestern Oklahoma State, though he spent most of his collegiate career at the University of Windsor. Griffin, who is in his fifth season with the Redblacks, spent the first two games of the year on the one-game injured list. Over 43 career CFL regular-season games, he has recorded 180 defensive tackles, 10 special teams tackles, and one interception.

The Ottawa Redblacks (0-2) will visit the Calgary Stampeders (2-0) at McMahon Stadium on Saturday, June 21 with kickoff slated for 2:00 p.m. EDT.

55 Stick Car

Gonna be a miserable game today in Calgary. Has poured rain for hours and it is cold. Snow in Canmore this morning. First day of summer too.

Yup, just came here to post about the rain. Calgary is supposed to get 40-50mm of rain this afternoon?

I rarely see that much forecasted for Winnipeg for one day.

Is this game cancelled or just delayed. Replacment programs currently on.

I noticed TSN has the incorrect start time on a couple of their channels.

I hope Crum does not get murdered in this game.

Ottawa O line has not been very good at all.

Calgary people are pretty soft..... staying away cause of a bit of rain.

The Zipp

should have given up the single on the missed FG

Sir Blue and Gold

Can we give both these teams a loss and give the two points to the weather?

pdirks67

I get that the weather is going to have a negative impact on offensive performance. But this is embarassing so far. Pro football teams shouldn't look like this, even when the weather is wet and windy.

Not a good for the league's highlight reel. The weather is executing at a very high level though.

Blue In BC

Funny game to watch so far. Comedy of errors and wind influenced problems. You name it, it's happened. It's also the kind of game where player tend to get injured with sloppy field conditions. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
One game at a time.
