He is due to get a $110,000 roster bonus on February 1.  That's why people say he's as good as gone. I think the only reason he is not gone already is that Fajardo wants to talk to his family before deciding if he will play next year.

Quote from: Blue In BC on October 30, 2025, 04:47:27 PMI don't think any team trades for him unless he renegotiates his contract or the Elks pick up the guaranteed money. That and having to give up some asset in return won't make it easy. Neg list or lower draft choices maybe.

It is interesting that his brother gets extended when he wanted to play with his brother. Money talks though.

Or maybe he never cared about playing with his brother and he just went to the team offering him the highest contract....

Don't think so, if you listen to any Tyrell Ford interviews, playing with his brother has always been a huge factor.

Tre Ford contract terms, no team is going to want to finance this including the Elks.

Contract length: Three years, through the 2027 season.
Signing bonus: $100,000 for 2025.
Potential earnings: A total that could reach approximately $1,238,500 if all bonuses and incentives are met.

Yearly breakdown:
2025: Can max out at $367,000.
2026: Can max out at $425,500.
2027: Can max out at $446,000.
Status: The contract makes him the designated starting quarterback for the 2025 season.

If so, Edm should have got a discount, instead he is the highest paid DB.

"It was Winnipeg, Hamilton, Calgary, and then Edmonton. Ultimately, Tre was in Edmonton, so that played a big factor. And they offered the most, so it was an easy decision," he said.

But if you watch watch what he does, he follows the money.

Uh, if he's being offered a starter's spot and $300k+ why on earth would he not want to play?  Not like he's going to be doing anything else.  SSK has no love for him, neither MTL or EDM.

He's probably the least-loved GC-winning QB in a decade.

Quote from: Jesse on October 30, 2025, 04:31:11 PMI don't think the team wants him or he wants to be there.

Tre Ford is wanted by a lot of teams, but not as a starter or starter $.  He'd be a decent backup and interesting "Strev package" type guy for under $160k.  And he just might take it, because what else is he going to do?

He should have concentrated on being a DB  ;)

Absolutely. I'm specifically talking about Edmonton though. I think both sides need a clean break.

I agree. I can't see him taking a paycut there just to be a backup.

Elks will release Tre Ford and he needs a fresh start in the east.

Don't know if there's any interest, but he'd be smart to go to Toronto or Hamilton.

No idea if any of that is guaranteed.  Edm might already be on the hook for major money, regardless if they cut him, that's what multi year deals are all about.  And you don't sign for that little (comparatively for a QB) if yo aren't getting some guarantee.

Or what/when roster bonuses might apply.

If Fajardo is thinking about retiring, then what?  Are there better options?
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Cody wants to get back to A-1 QB salary and Hervey doesn't have much leverage, signing Dustin Crum #1 would lead to a sub par record and his eventual dismissal, not a viable option.
