DB's Gauden and Davis and OL Garcia all suspended. I suppose that means they did not report?

DB Kelly to 6 game IR.

Losing Kelly unfortunate but opens up a spot for another player?

Likely solidifies Hallet's spot, and now Haggerty. The odd play at safety, but mostly Teams.

Weird highlights, he's playing receiver (could be TE), LB and DE.

Admit it, we're just trying to AR 2 (or more!) of every last name to confuse people!
Never go full Rider!

As FS backup?  I hope you didn't mean as starting FS... otherwise we may be in trouble.  Whenever he was in he often got burned.  Plus, he's super fast, but has very little beef compared to Alexander.

Still pretty sure we'll go IMP at FS.  We really started going to cups every year when we switched to (almost) always starting IMP at FS.

LOL, no not as a starter.  I thought my post was clear that he would be mostly special teams as he usually is.
Kelly wasn't going to start either.  My point was that losing him just means that Hallet & Haggerty are pretty safe.

It's been mentioned that Smith might see some duty at safety as well. At least in a development mode along with playing LB and ST's. He's supposed to be very versatile.

Makonzo might be a depth player in a similar fashion if and when needed.

However it appears we will be using an import at safety. Griffith and Parker and possibly a rookie will be getting looks.

I'd be really surprised if they allowed newly drafted LB's Shay or Smith any playing time at all other than ST.  They already have well established options at LB and Safety and like rookie Tyrell Ford they may not even get a look until the very end of their first season.

Progression is an important concept on MOS's teams, it builds loyalty, creates continuity and limits mistakes made by players unfamiliar with their assignments, that can be huge on defence and I think I think Younger buys into those concepts.

If you recall Tyrell Ford hardly saw the field in 2022 then he spent the next year trying to win a spot in the NFL.

I think it's game situational decisions. If we have big lead half way into Q4 then I think you start rotating in other players. That includes 2025 draft choices. Sure they'll start mostly on ST's but that doesn't mean they don't start seeing some reps as the season progresses.

It's not like I expect them to become full time starters during 2025 but I do think we see more activity.
