Schoen, White, Mitchell, Demski, Clercius is a pretty solid corps.  With a lot of TC players that could be the next Wilson.  And Wilson, should he not stick.

From a production standpoint, we won't miss Lawler or Woli.  Wilson will sting a bit even if he comes back late.

I think our shopping for WR is over, and I'm absolutely fine with what has been done.

Talent is not bad at all. Continuity may be an issue early. A change on the OL may prove to be an improvement but is a TBD. Lofton may need to show improvement but he is a known factor. If he gets pushed in TC, the team gains depth at the least.

I agree there is a decent chance Wilson comes back but many mid season returns don't always work out well. Getting the NFL out of their heads and readjusting to the CFL without a TC is not helpful. Being on the last half season of a 2 year deal could be either bad or good depending on the player.

Not sure 6 months of NFL will make a player forget everything about the CFL.  The guys that go down, chase the dream through 4 or 5 different PR's and camps, change their physical stature to better meet the NFL norm, those are the ones that take time to re0acclimate.

Wilson is down there doing the same things he did here.  I don't think he's adding pounds or changing his play.  If anything, like Schoen, it may hurt his game not having the waggle.  That rule can make a CFL star out of a guy that can't cut it from a standing start in the NFL.

Unlike DB's.  Those that excel up here defending against the waggle should find it far easier to take on a guy from a standing start, and one less player in the pattern.  Probably why more of them stick down there.

Quote from: TecnoGenius on February 05, 2025, 07:53:34 AMYa, after all the jawboning when coming back here about his mistake bailing for money, etc.  Disappointed.  The only thing I can think of is maybe all his whiffs and underwhelming production (and GC faux-pas) in '24 made Mafia reduce the offer.

I still would bet money the gap was > $30k, otherwise he would have stayed.

I guess he can go have fun losing in HAM now!  He'll be having flashbacks to his EDM years!

I've washed the last GC away, what did Lawler do wrong in that game?

Overall happy for Lawler, can't blame a receiver 30+ for cashing in while he still can.  He played well in Wpg and did all he could to win and they chose to keep Schoen over him, considering the cost of both.  It's football, he's cool and I'll always cheer for him, as long as he never becomes a Rider.

Not having a full CFL TC is a problem both physically and mentally. He wouldn't be coming back to the same team from 2024. We'll have a new OC and a multitude of roster changes. He might have a different role and be looked as more of the # 1 receiver and not the # 2 receiver. That door could swing in either direction.

A lot will depend on his attitude. Does he return ready to make the CFL is dream or does he just use it as a stepping stone to try again in 2026 in the NFL.

Note that we've seen several multiple season CFL receivers try to land in the NFL only to return and stumble.

As I said, if he tries to beef up, or change to fit the NFL, coming back might be harder.  But if he's just playing his game, it shouldn't be tough.

He's been through camp and a season with the waggle, and excelled at it.  That is the hardest part of the CFL game to adapt to, and he did it last year right out of the gate.  Coming back, I think he'd slot back in fine, unless he's added a bunch of weight.

Went OOB backwards and touched his heel down OOB after his toe tapped in-bounds.

Critical early stages of the cup on a critical drive to get momentum.  It was like the 3rd mistake already by the team very early in the game.

It all went downhill from there.  The tone was set.

The near-300k REC needs to do better on fairly plebian routes/catches like that in the biggest game.
