...recent signings, player negotiations, upcoming free agency in an interview with Ed Tait...

Walters commented "...(He) did anticipate the Blue Bombers being more active in free agency this year ..." which should keep fans glued to news come the opening of Free Agency on Feb. 11, 2025 at noon ET.

The full article by Ed Tait is here!

If we are more active in free agency then we will be losing a bunch of pieces.  Wonder what they are.

Ya, but most years are max 1 "splash" FA signing... so "more active" could just mean we are getting 2 this time.   :P  :P

And if you think you'll be outbid for a bunch of departing FA guys, what makes you think you'll save money bidding on new FA incoming guys?  The only way that makes any sense is if people are saying they want to leave regardless of price.

Bighill, Schoen, Streveler all have health issues. We have some aging issues. We lost Ontaria Wilson to the NFL.  We could lose Ford to the NFL or to another CFL club (Edmonton?). There is no doubt we will lose some players to CFL free agency.

All that needs to be looked at, addressed and plan for it.  It's not surprising we will be active in free agency this year.

Time, injury, and life marches on.
If Shoen, strevler, Bighill could play like they did three years ago, it would be simple.  Sign them.

But as most of us know, football is pretty unforgiving. Once your body breaks or tears something, it rarely comes back the way it was. Schoenberg and Bighill injured two years in a row. Them legs are telling you something.  Strevlers injuries were so massive, I doubt he passes a physical.  I think they go on an all-star injury team.

Plus we have already replaced them with younger, less expensive guys....the future.

As it is we are pushing our luck with the Cup here, and no legit back-up QB. I am pretty sure when we picked up Zac on a whim, we didn't expect him to last this long.  I think we. Have been passed the point of value, on the Dollar.  Let's say he is concussed, or gets a leg injury and is done for the year.  Mr.Walters who are you going to go after.?   Looks like Fajardo, or even the Stampeder/ Hamilton guy.  Both guys would have a lot to prove.  Plus if the Bombers can bring in an o line that can block for them, good old Zac, could last, after all.

All I know it would be very sad to see the Cupm in Winnipeg, and legends not be in it.  That would be hard wouldn't it.

Anyone else think the Offensive coordinator situation is odd?

A bit.

At this point in time, teams would be fully justified in denying us interview requests.

But, we also could have are person already and it's just not being made public for one reason or another.

I do!! I just don't get why we've waited this long to fill it. I also dont get if we have someone and are just not announcing it, what purpose would that serve?? We're 2 weeks away from free agency and we don't have an OC in place...sorry, that's beyond bizarre!!

TecnoGenius

What if the new OC is a done deal but he's from the NFL and they can't talk until after the Super Bowl?

Grasping at straws here...

I want to know why the "next man up" in the OC booth wasn't ready to take over, like Buck and Younger were when their time came.

NFL coach makes sense, but if it is, concerned the canadian game is very different than NFL with motion, extra player et all. Id have thought we'd have brought in Jarious Jackson who had very impressive offensive numbers last season given the sad group he had.

Mike O'Shea has made it abundantly clear he is evaluating a coordinator/coordinators.  He is not going to rush into a decision.  He wants it to be the right decision.  He sounds like he has this under control.

Ok, but when the Bomber asked us for permission to interview LaPolice in mid-January of 2019, we said "No". Kyle Walters said that mid-January was too late in the off season to be searching for a new coordinator.

In another week it will be two months since Buck left. That's long enough to be saying this is odd. Maybe it will all be clear why once the hire is made but until then I'm going with "highly unusual".

My theory: One of two things is happening. One, MOS can't find someone he loves and is trying to settle on one he likes. Two, MOS is trying to lure his favored candidate who gave an initial "no" but MOS is willing to be stubborn and wait, maybe sweetening the offer along the way if he can.

Are there OC candidates that moved from the CFL to NFL recently?  Who might come back for an OC job?  I don't think we've discussed that potential pool.

Throw Long Bannatyne

He announced Jordan Younger as the DC on Jan. 8th 2024, so he's running at least 2 weeks behind last year's timing.  Could be showing courtesy to the OC he's already chosen leaving their current situation, or could be moon cycles, who knows?  Could be they're planning a press conference introducing the new members of the coaching staff and they want them all together as a kick off to the new season.

Could be....could be....could beeeee....

Younger was already on our staff though.

And we weren't looking for a new DC, it was a surprise change.

Henry Buress?
Cordell seems like a guy who appreciates the passing game as the Bombers have used it.
Maybe it is. LaPolice? perhaps he is under contract with TSN until after football season is done, which could included the Super Bowl
