I really like Mitchel but I think he is more of the workhorse type that requires a ton of targets.
I think he's going to get cranky when he doesn't see as many passes coming his way

The man has 4.7/40 speed. Last season Punts 19/172, longest 21 yards. Kick returns, 23/535, 49.3 longest. This guy can burn a lot of DB's deep with his speed.

Good addition if the price was right. He won't be on an ELC like Wilson but he's a good receiver.

Have to wonder if the OC has been hired.  Personnel signings like this one may pr may not mesh with a new OC's gameplan.  Not saying an OC would have any say in the players signed to his squad, but giving a coach the tools he needs to execute his gameplan just makes sense.

Now, if the new OC just happened to have coached with the Elks last year, and liked Mitchell, when he came available, a call could have been made.

Or, if we're trying to land an OC tha coached for the Elks last year, this could be a little sweetener.

Just conjecture, but Mitchell had 7 other landing spots available, ones without guys like Lawler, Schoen, Demski and Woli to share touches with, but he's here.  There could be more of a reason than we see on the surface.

I think we will sign our pending FA WR's, GC year and all, unless we see someone backing up the truck.  I can't see Lawler leaving again, he knows what he's got here.  If Schoen decides to try FA, Mitchell fits in nicely.  If Lawler and Schoen both re-sign, have to wonder if Lucky gets a deal here.   With Wheatfall and Clercius in the wings, I think we are going to be just fine.

I can't recall this guy but from what others are saying, sounds perfect

Mike O'Shea mum on timeline for Winnipeg Blue Bombers' offensive coordinator hire

"I like where we're at (in the process)," O'Shea told reporters via videoconference on Monday. "(I'm) working on it, had some good conversations with guys, and just making sure I work through that process to discover what I need to discover and do it right."

"I don't know that you rush this process. I think you work on it, you put your time in, and you come up with good answers and the right answers."

Check out the stats for the Elks in 2024. He was targeted 89 times and had 58 receptions for 727 yards , essentially tied for 3rd most on the Elks

In each game against the Bombers he had 3 receptions.  44 yards and 54 yards ( 1 TD ) He also seemed to have significant work on the KR duties including a 49 yard return in the 2nd game. He only was 4 yards less than Leake and it was on less returns.

He'll be the replacement for Wilson and may also see some duty as our as our returner. I guess it depends on whether Wheatfall pushes to start or whether we find another rookie equal to Wilson.

At worst he's going to be a very good DI that can rotate in as a receiver and returner. I think this means that Whitehead won't be re-signed and Case or Mitchell may not make it past TC although one might stick on PR.

absolutely great signing, gives us some good options and can be a strong #2 receiver. In 2022 had 637 yards in 9 games so potential is there.
The kick and punt returns is a good bonus especially if he's backing up another returner...something we've lacked ie when whitehead was hurt we didn't have a good enough option to play someone else.
It could also be a message to Schoen and Lawler that we have options.
Ps his 40 time was 4.46 in nfl combine

Mitchell fills the spot Wilson filled last year, without us having to cross our fingers that someone will step up. No repeat of the Bailey replacement issue.

I don't think Walters uses that kind of negotiating tactic.  We sign who is available who fits our needs at the price we want to pay.  I don't think having Mitchell here changes Walters offers to anyone.  If we sign another starting quality WR though, might not be any chairs left when the music stops for someone.

Lawler and Schoen will be offered deals at the max we'd consider paying, whether or not "we have options".  Walters always treats players fairly, even if some do not think so.  They have the option of signing here, in an organization they know, to be treated the way they are accustomed, or they can sign elsewhere.  Kenny did that once.  And came back.

I don't think we will have an issue signing them, but even if both find better deals, I'm sure we will "have options".
