Looks like we will be ice fishing close to our dock again this season. Cleared a 10' x 30' spot in front of our dock, drilled 6 holes and the kids got the lines in the water. Took awhile but, the perch started biting. Not long after that they start catching a few nice walleye's. Frozen minnows on a 1/4 ounce jig, in about 12' of water.

Today the Perch were relentless, and keeping bait on there hooks was impossible. So, the kids switched over to fire ball jigs with stinger hooks. That was working well but very few walleye's. My Granddaughter then which over to a 3/8 oz. white and pink Buck Shot rattling, jigging spoon, and that was the answer to there walleye issue's.

Got some fishing in this weekend. Buck Shot rattling jigging spoons are still doing very well. Pink and White are still the hot color. Lots of perch and under size walleye's. But, we did get our limit in keepers.

Well, fishing was a little slow this morning. Lot's of perch, no Walleye. Kids came up for lunch. Decided that the Buckshot rattling jig was not the answer today.  Went to a 5/16 oz, white and purple jig, with a fresh frozen minnow and like magic the walleye showed up.

Much nicer weather this weekend. Lot's of nice size walleye's. The kids are back to jigs with minnows. Pink and white 5/16 jig with a small to medium minnow was the answer this weekend.

Very windy today. But, the fish are biting. Pink and white, 5/16 oz jig with a fresh frozen minnow is still working well. Lots of perch and smallmouth bass, with number of nice size Walleye's.

Last weekend of ice fishing for us. The kids were reeling them in pretty stead all weekend. Granddaughter reeled in a 28" walleye Saturday afternoon on 8 pound test. Wasn't happy when we put it back, but those are the rules.
