Just read that Mark Kilam was named as Head Coach in Edmonton. Good for him, he's definitely paid his dues. Let's see if he can turn that sad sack franchise around.

I saw that also late last night. Wonder what this does for Buck Pierce?

I think Buck stays exactly where he is.

Now we know the reason for his early release...

I really think Lapo has to be top of the list if Buck goes to BC.  Give him offseason scouting duties, and his plate. bank account and heart will be full.

But NO ONE in the organization can mention his name until something happens, its not thier way.

The Macsymk ask is purely tit for tat...just window dressing IMHO (the H is Hopeful in this case)

Buck's best opportunity was always in BC due to his connection with Rigmaiden, should know within a week or two if he gets the job or not.  When a coordinator actively pursues a HC job every year, it makes economic sense to get his future replacement onboard working under him so the transition can be seamless.

I knew Killam was going to HC somewhere, but I always thought it would be CGY.  CGY has made their Dickenson bed and now they have to lie in it.  I think they made the wrong choice.  Could have moved Dickenson to be "just" GM and Killam HC.  It could be there wasn't enough money in the cap to go around to make everyone happy.

Even if Killam is just mediocre to start, this is a +1 for EDM.

I've said it a million times: Buck isn't HC material.  I don't think he even wants the job.  Sure, the money would be nice, but I don't think he has the temperament.

I could possibly see Buck cozily moving to HC here in WPG in 5 years if MOS wants to retire.  Being a HC of a team you've been with forever is far more comfortable and doable than being thrown into the Lions' den... and he'd already have the respect of the Bombers.

Kilam was fired in Calgary. I don't believe it was an early release for his benefit. They would just given him permission to interview in that case.

I also don't believe Lapo would return. I think he's embracing the media role now.

Maybe if it only happened once, but when he goes for HC job interviews 2 years running it's pretty obvious he intends to leave at some point. Obviously he's comfortable enough with his family situation now to move them wherever required.

Why so?? He's local football product, which will help sell tickets, with a defensive and ST background, which compliments Jackson perfectly. Why is it a terrible choice??

He's a 20 year special teams coach with zero HC experience. Before you talk about MOS, he took 6 years to turn the team around and he didn't have 20 years at Special teams coaching.

He's been "the Next one" for years, and he saw the writting on the wall that his turn wasnt coming in CGY.

You never know if a coach is going to be a good HC.  Lapo is proof.

But Osh and Dinwiddie both made the move admirably.

EDM has nothing to lose, although Killam has the handicap od Hervey...  whereas Osh and Dinwiddie have Walters and Pinball..

Can't agree with this viewpoint, after many years of bad football it's imperative the Elks show improvement to get their fans back on board.  A few more years of sucking could put them out of business, same goes for a few CFL teams, empty stands are a recent phenomenon that should not be dismissed.

Out of all the "ladies in waiting", Killam is really the most promising.  Highly touted and been rumored to be getting the CGY HC job for at least 4 years now.  No one is surprised he finally got a HC gig.

Plus, extra points for the hair.

No one knows if the newest HC will be good or not until he's thrown into the job.

What other coordinator is there besides Killam right now to promote?  Buck?  Meh.  I'll believe it when I see it.  Plus, I like the "gambling a little" move instead of retreading Lapo or Bene or whoever.
